My 7 year old son and I LOVED the movie Cars. We have several Cars books, the soundrack--my son even has Cars light-up sneakers and wallet!

It was with great anticipation that we got the PS2 Cars game a few days ago.

Let me start off by saying that this game is not very intuitive, and would definitely be problematic for younger children--even experienced racing or platform gamers. My son kept roaming the streets of Radiator Springs and I got to thinking "Man, there's GOT to be more to the game than this!"

So I went about trying to unlock various mini-games and races. (The guidebook wasn't much help.) I finally realized that not only did you need to "collect" (run into) lightning bolts for points, but you had to complete various races and mini-games to unlock more of the same. This isn't unusual, of course, but it's quite confusing. For example, a raceway may look familiar in the menu, but what you don't realize is that you need to race it *several times* to unlock other features.

I also figured out that the circular map on the screen (that you can disable if you want) features green and white dots on it. Green dots indicates a spot you can drive to for racing/games that it's an event you've already done. White dots are new events/games that you've unlocked.

Another confusing aspect is that there is an Arcade Mode and Story Mode--as well as other options. Figuring out what does what can be confusing. For example, let's say you've earned enough points to unlock cool paint jobs for Lightning McQueen. Well, you wouldn't go to Ramones, believe it or not. You have to first go to Bonus Materials, buy your paint job/s, THEN go back to Ramones for him to apply it. (And the load times seems unusually long!

Having recently received the Cars Videogame I can say that its a fun translation of the big screen action. There is an arcade mode where you can race for the Piston Cup as Lightning McQueen of Darrel Cartrip. Its a nice little cartoon racer. One of the cool features is that as you make your way through the pack, you can see the places of the next several cars ahead of you. The numbers float above the cars as you would see on the Nascar coverage.

There is also the story mode. Taking a page from the GTA world you are set loose in the open ended world of Radiator Springs where you must accomplish various tasks. All of the landmarks from the movie are on hand as are the voices from the film.

Cars, the Videogame is nothing revolutionary. It borders on the 'almost too easy', then again... its likely be marketed to the kids who want all of the other Cars goodies. If you are a Pixar fan or are looking for a family-friendly GTA experience, then by all means, check out Cars for the PS2.

My Nanny is typing this for me. She is nice that way. I like the Cars game so much that I play it every time my brother leaves the PlayStation. Thank you for having this game so Nanny could buy it for me. It is easy to play and so much fun.

My son is 5 and this game is his absolute favorite. It has several activities for him to do and he loves everyone of them. I was worried that it may be hard for him to do since he is only 5 but he does better than I do on the game. All the movie voices are there and in story mode it keeps his attention very well. Love it!

CD works great with no problem, great for the price and there is no difference between buying this CD or buying a brand new one you will be just spending more money
Enjoy the game and keep buying games from amazon, remember there is no difference if you buy it new or used if the CD is clean and the game is working, also you can clean the Cd with some special material in case you had any issue but to be honest I never had any issue with this game

This is one of those great games that can be played alone or with another player. My three year old grand-daughter loves to play, and it is easy enough for her to when the "Little Racers" option is selected, and then hard enough to challenge even the more seasoned player, like the nine year old or even me, who plays the "Mature" rated driving games.

We have lots of fun with the multi-player games and take turns playing as a family. I would highly recommend this game to families who want a nice, fun, safe game to play with their children..

I finally gave in and bought a "game" for our children. So, Santa delivered a PlayStation2 on Christmas Eve. He also bought CARS PS2 game and we love it! The whole family, including my two year old, who can't wait for someone to tip the tractors. Just as great as the movie.
