The pump came with two brass 3/8" hose barbs that thread into the pump.
The electrical connectors are just un-threaded studs, so you must use their proprietary push-on connectors, which are included with a retaining clip. Lose any of it and you are dead in the water.
From various places on the web and the installation manual I found that the Carter P4070 pump specs are:
Free Flow Rate: 72 gph
Maximum Pressure (psi): 6 psi
Inlet Size: 1/4 in. NPT
Inlet Quantity: One
Inlet Attachment: Female threads
Outlet Size: 1/4 in. NPT
Outlet Quantity: One
Outlet Attachment: Female threads
There is an inlet screen built into the pump to keep out rocks and birds, but
An inlet filter is mandatory to prevent damage and for warranty. Apparently the pump and motor flood with fuel for cooling, which makes it sensitive to contamination from water, rust and crud.
The pump in the box weights exactly 3 lb.
These universal rotary vane electric fuel pumps from Carter operate with leaded and unleaded gasoline, gasohol, and fuel boosters. (There is no mention of diesel, but Diesel blog members report great success using the P4070 as a lift pump from the tank to the high pressure fuel pump).
They have an internal pressure-regulating valve, and feature free-flow fuel delivery. These pumps have no points to burn out, and no shaft seals to leak or deteriorate.Read more ›
No more lack of fuel at 4k rpm and above. I am telling you this just in case the carter falls short for you and the other option is a very loud 110gph holly or what ever. These 2 combined gave me 14 psi, so I put it on a regulator and set to 6 psi. Seems good so far.
As for noise.... If you have ever heard the holly blue/red, or NOS sniper 97-110 gph pumps you'll know this carter is quiet. Yes you can hear it. If you have a performance exhaust you won't hear it when cranked. Even in my 99 accord I could hear the stock fuel pump when I turned the key. This is just a tiny bit louder. But very quiet when compared to other after market pumps in or near the same price range.
The elders told me to latch on to one of these Carter P4070 electric fuel pumps, and I did so in order to curry favor with the village council. I installed the Carter as directed, knowing that it's PSI rating was perfectly inline with the requirements of the carburetor. I installed a fuel pressure regulator to give me a bit more control, but I don't think I really ever needed it. Afterwards, the Paleozoic Bronco churned up those 13,000-foot passes like a asthmatic rhinoceros, no longer sidelined by the spectra of vapor lock.
Easy installation, not too noisy, rock-solid reliability. Make the elders happy, and slap one into your junk today.

Overall, the product is quiet and works perfectly...my only complaint is the specifications for this pump clearly stated '1/4 inch NPT inlet and outlet'... Read morePublished 15 days ago by keith
Like nearly everything about this pump. It is big but not too noisy! The electrical connectors have fallen off once (so far) going down the road. Read morePublished 17 days ago by Amazon Customer
Works fantastically. It is a little noisy, but doesn't compare to the bosch 044 I use this to fuel.Published 27 days ago by THomas Anderson
The fuel pump itself seems fine except for the way the positive and ground wires attach on the bottom. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Giles Mann

This is the same fuel pump for my Onan Marquis 7000 (NHM) gen set. If you are going to replace the pump do yourself a favor and replace the Fuel Shut Off Valve at the same time. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Michael P Dunn
