My first child was born in 1991. She had a mobile on her crib just like this one (but with different stuffed animals, obviously). You wound it up, it played 1 song for a minute or two. Fast forward 20 years, I have baby number 5 and she has this mobile on her crib. This mobile is no different from the one my 1st daughter had 20 years ago. You wind it up, it plays 1 song and it lasts a minute or two. It's a typical mobile no different from the way mobiles have been made for decades. Mobiles do not have bells or whistles. They just don't. They are not made to. I think these 1 star reviews are unfair to the product since the product is not as cheaply made as these reviews try to make people believe and it does do what it purports to do which is play a song after being wound up.

That said, I think Carter's should be ashamed of themselves for the price gouging clearly going on with this product. They know that they have parents in a bind because most new mom's want their nursery to match right down to every little detail and they are pricing the product accordingly. This mobile would be fairly prices at around $25. Pricing this mobile at $40+ is high-way robbery and I reduced my review by 1 star accordingly.

The animals on the mobile are adorable and match the rest of the bedding set perfectly. That said... the rest of the mobile is a complete let down.

The fabric that covers the arm looks incredibly cheap. The crossbar the animals hang from looks cheap. The bottom (conveniently hidden in the picture of the mobile) is glaringly white and plastic and looks awful against my cherry crib. If I had seen that in the product photo, I would have never bought this piece. There is one lullaby that plays with a wind, which is fine with me, but you can barely hear the music over the noise the gears inside make.

Like another reviewer said, I wouldn't be upset if we had spent $15 or $20 on an item of this quality. But for this price and for this brand? I'd expect much better. I will be writing to Carter's, as well. At the very least, they should change the picture on the product page to adequately show what the mobile looks like.

A mobile proved itself very entertaining to my so. When he was an infant so when my friend was expecting I wanted to get one for her. This movie fit her theme but the thing I loved most was how the animals look down at the baby. It is well known that babies seem faces so I was very happy to find this mobile to provide animal faces the new baby can look up at.

Animals cute and I love how they face baby. Many mobiles are cute but baby looks at bottom of the toys. This was designed well--toys hang so that baby looks at faces. Low rating because music box wore out in a few months. I found another mobile on discount and was able to swap animals out to keep using.

We like this mobile. It was easy to assemble and can be easily taken down from the crib as needed. It plays a good volume. My 3 month old loves it. My only request would be that it played longer with each wind and that it played a variety of songs. It only plays the one lullaby.

My wife and I purchased a mobile hoping it would help our son (4mo.) sleep better and give him something to interact with while we can't always hold him. I believe this mobile (and pretty much all of them) is overpriced. It's just a piece of plastic with four mini stuff animals...we kind of regretted not making our own DIY mobile. I do like the theme and details, but overall am disappointed with how short the period of music is when you crank it all the way. I'd like it to play longer so I'm not disturbing our son if he starts getting drowsy...I feel like it interrupts him to keep re-cranking the music.

Cute animals, but they don't all hang to face baby, hence one star down. Regardless, we loved it and so did our little one... She loved it so much that she pulled it apart when she got big enough to reach it!! That feat was a little too easy, hence the second star. Meanwhile, the music box piece is indestructible.

Plays a nice tune and keeps our son's attention when we need a minute or two. Only wish it would play longer instead of having to keep winding it. No matter which mobile you buy, make sure the little animals face down so your baby can see them. Never understood why people buy the ones that look cute from the sides or looking down from above, that's not how your kid is seeing it! Unlike the rest of the Forest Friends line (why oh why did you discontinue Treetops,Carter's?) the hedgehog doesn't look like a crude rendition, so that's a big plus too.
