But it's not just the book's humor that grabbed me. It's how Streeter so perfectly crystallized those tiny moments of the work/parenting life in a way that made my heart ache even as I snort laughed. Her cartoons cover it all: from the madness at home to the stress of the office to mom envy. Reading this book reminded me all over again why I love being a parent, even on the hard days, and how sometimes laughter in the midst of chaos is the best way through.
This book would be a fantastic gift for parents, empty nesters, parents-to-be or, you know, pretty much anyone who's been a parent or had one. Life is tough; more of it ought to be spent laughing--and "Cartooning While Parenting" is a hilarious step in the right direction.
Full disclosure: I was given a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. No bribes were offered or received. Not even chocolate.
