To add insult to injury, they are still priced as premium gloves. I purchased mine at a local store because the Amazon price is absurdly high at the moment, but I paid the same as before, when they were a quality item. I have been buying these for many years, but I actually returned this last pair as soon as I tried them on and realized they were completely different gloves. I don't think they are worth half of what I paid, and I can't imagine anyone repurchasing this cheap imitation. Casabella had a good reputation with a product that stood out from the others, but they really blew it here. Time to move on.
On a medium sized male hand, these gloves almost choke off the blood supply to the fingers. You can hardly bend your fingers if you manage to get one of these gloves on. And the only way to get it off is to pull it down (turn it inside out).
So dismiss the reviews at your peril. If you have medium sized male hands (not Donald Trump kiddie hands) then these gloves simply wont fit.
EDIT: I *thought* I couldn't live without these gloves, but I was wrong. I purchased these gloves less than five months ago and now one of them has two holes in it. The first hole was my fault, I poked the finger with a fork while scrubbing it and made the hole. Arguably, I think the glove should have stood up to a little fork poke, but oh well. I put superglue on it, the glove didn't leak and I kept using them.
HOWEVER, today I started getting water in the glove and looked down to find a new hole in the thumb. It doesn't look like a stab hole, the material looks like its degrading! The hole is so big, there's no superglue fix that would do the trick. I am very disappointed.
While I like the glove's design, I won't purchase this brand again. Some individuals might be okay buying gloves twice a year, but I want my dish gloves to last for at least 12 months. I'll be trying out other brands, starting with True Blues as mentioned by another reviewer, to find a better pair.
****FINAL EDIT**** 3/25/13
After my first edit, I caved and bought more... To this date, I've bought SIX pairs of these gloves, each time to replace the last pair. It's clear that I like them -- they're pink and cute and I like the Water Stop cuff -- so I wont lower my review past three stars. I also wont buy these again. Ever. They get unexplained holes every time and the material isn't high-quality.
I added a picture of my latest pair of casualties to the customer images, if you're curious.
A note to anyone using these to protect their hands from abrasive chemicals, I used oven cleaner wearing a pair and washed them thoroughly afterward. The next day, they were a pile of goop.
CONCLUSION: If you like pretty, pink, DISPOSABLE dish gloves, these are for you. They fit well and wear out quickly. If you want a sturdy pair that won't disappoint, look elsewhere. I'm off to buy these: True Blues Medium Purple Ultimate Household Gloves. Not sure if they're any good yet, but they look more sturdy, at least.
In a kitchen at home these could easily last 2 weeks to 2 months depending on how aggressively you wash your plates.
The gloves were fantastic for keeping the heat off my hands and it definitely prevented the water from going up into my shirt or off my elbows.
However, in the dish washing job, it lasted a little over a day before holes started to form in the finger tips. It definitely was the thickest pair I have tried thus far, and it lasted the longest, but need something a little more durable for consistent Brillo Scouring.
