A word of caution to the reader. This book was written in the 1600's, and the language certainly reflects the time period. If you struggle to understand Shakespeare or the KJV, you will probably struggle with this work as well. Consider this two-sentence excerpt from his chapter on Cornelius:
"This is so plain and pregnant a proof that Cornelius maintained family worship that I cannot conceive what paraphrase can be made use of to illustrate it but the multiplying of words will rather darken it. Let such as require and call for an express place of Scripture make the experiment how the words mentioned are to be understood, if family worship is excluded (p.77)."
