By sjc on April 3, 2016 Color: Red Verified Purchase It drives me crazy when I see all these questions about these cases, "will it fit this drive?", "will it fit that drive?". I know it is sometimes unbelievably hard to find the interior dimensions of some of these products but measure your drive and compare to the case specs! To be clear this is the Case Logic QHDC-101 hard drive case I'm talking about. INTERIOR USEABLE dimensions by my tape measure are: 3/4" x 3-1/4" x 4-7/8". The 3/4" dimension is just for the depth of the bottom part of the case that the drive actually sits in. Total interior space (height or depth, however you look at it) by the manufacturers specs is 1.5". The top part of the case with the mesh pocket for cables, etc is a little shy of 3/4" deep so you could fit a taller drive, you just wouldn't be able to put as much stuff in the pocket. The outer dimensions as listed on Amazon for this case are accurate at 1.6" x 3.75" x 5.75". The hard drive I have bought this case for is the Seagate Backup Plus 4TB (model SRD00F1) which is 3/4" x 3" x 4-1/2". This drive fits perfectly with a little room to spare and plenty of room in the mesh pocket for the cable and a couple of small USB drives or whatever. I like the single wider strap that goes the length of the case instead of two smaller bands spanning the width as it holds different sized drives more securely. The case is semi hard with no soft padding inside, the zipper seems rugged enough. I've always been happy with Case Logic products for my laptops, etc and this seems to be a quality product. Writing this review a bit later than ideally should have, but here it goes. I will list the pros and cons based on my experience with this product:
Pros:
The case is well designed and well made, it looks elegant and not something cheaply made.
The outer covering is sturdy and durable and it can withstand pressure.
The inner layer is soft and it is well padded

Cons:
Only one thing I find little uncomfortable is the starp which is provided. It’s a rubber one and it would have been better If there was a real hand strap could have been provided instead of the rubber thingy for carrying the drive more safely to and from a car,

More Convenient Than Danny Devito

So this hard drive case is not only compact but portable as well – which is not always the same thing. Danny Devito, for instance, is compact, but you would have one helluva time trying to fit him in your back pocket, so he's not very portable. Also he wouldn't work very well as a hard drive carrying case. I mean sure, you could put your hard drive inside him, but it would probably require surgery and that's pretty expensive. Unless you could get Danny to pay for it himself, 'cause he's quite rich, But then what would be in it for him? Apart from the fact that he'd be the first human with a built in hard drive, which could be very useful at times. You could store a ton of information in it, about bumble bees, broken clocks and stuff like that, and it would be really handy when you had to sit exams and such.

Anyway I seem to have got a little off track. I promise it won't happen again. But if you do go off track you should really make sure it's in a 4x4 vehicle - probably a black one – or else you'll probably end up getting stuck in the mud or ruining your suspension, and it will cost a fortune to get it fixed. Unless, of course, you're Danny Devito and you have a built in hard drive, in which case you'll have all the information you need to fix it yourself.

So, unless you have access to Danny Devito, on a day when he's in a very co-operative mood, then I would purchase this case for your hard drive instead, because it's a lot more convenient.

I purchased this case for my Lacie Rugged Hard Drive LaCie 500 GB 7200 rpm Rugged All-Terrain FireWire 800/ FireWire 400/USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive 301900 and it's great! It fits the drive perfectly and protects it well. I shoot video and often edit on location, so I end up dragging my drive through the worst of conditions, but it's survived like a champ and this case has definitely helped.

Great case just what I wanted-no complaints

This is a great case I use it daily and it is in as good as condition as when I bought it almost 6 months ago-I would strongly recommend anybody buying this to keep your hard drive in also the leads and space for business cards.
It is a hard shell covered in a black material-inside your hard drive can be kept secure with an elastic strap-on the opposite side is a netting pocket which can keep you wires and business cards neat and tidy. The case has a zipper all round it which I really like as again it keepe everything neat, tidy an secureI would defiantly recommend this case-it is just perfect for peace of mind, when keeping your valuable hard drive safe from drops and bangs.
I did buy this case to protect my Transcend 2 TB hard drive

Just what I needed and wanted to store my Western Digital (WD) Ultra 1TB. external portable hard drive in!

It has a lot more room in it and better quality made than the one sold by Western Digital, Plus it will accept the above mention portable hard drive if you have the WD optional protective colored grip kit installed on your WD Ultra passport where the case that WD sells for this hard drive model mentioned above wont let you as the WD optional carry case made for this WD model hard drive is a very tight fit with just the hard drive in it and then if you install the USB cord it makes it almost impossible to zip up!

But this Case Logic PHDC-1 is the bomb and plus just the right size for storing your HD and USB cord and maybe something else!....and I highly recommend it!

Plus as a note I already had and own this model case from Case Logic for my HP external 1TB. portable hard drive so I knew what is was capable of doing and being, Just wish I found it on Amazon first as I paid almost $6 more for it than what I just did on Amazon!

Thanx Case Logic for all your great products!...And Thanx Amazon for having it at a great price!

Medium-Duty Hard Drive Case

I use the Case Logic PHDC-1 case to carry my WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive to and from work in my messenger bag. It is rigid, so it provides adequate protection when traveling with my lunch, head phones and the occasional beer. It also has a webbed pocket to carry the USB cable on one side and a elastic, fabric band to hold the hard drive in place on the other. (See Photo)

This case is water resistant, but it is not one of those heavy duty, BASE jump into a a raging river type of cases. It is also minimally padded, so it's not designed for heavy abuse.

I have owned several of these cases and I would highly recommend them as a hard drive case for everyday use.

I recommend you be careful with the hard disk connector cable. You should not bend the cable too much when storing it in the case because it can be damaged.
