From the manufacturer
The petite and durable folding knife that doesn't quit.
Peanut knives get their name due to their small petite size, fitting discretely and conveniently in a pocket. These knives are equipped with two full length blades, the clip blade and the pen blade. The clip blade is commonly used as a multi-purpose blade and the pen blade is great for light work, making this an ideal everyday carry. This collection features Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel or Chrome Vanadium folding blades with bone or synthetic handle to choose from.
The clip blade is commonly used as a multi-purpose blade. It excels at cutting and slicing in tight spots making it a great everyday carry for projects around the house or the outdoors.
The pen blade is ideal for everyday tasks like opening mail and boxes. It can also be used for light whittling and cutting twine or cardboard.
Compact and Portable
The slim design is perfect for a pocket or purse.
Care Tips for Case Knives
Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.
Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.

This Case Peanut is a part of the Dark Red CV Family. Deep red handles make these knives stand out from all the others. Easy-sharpening Chrome Vanadium blades make them especially useful. Peanut knives get their name due to their small petite size, fitting discretely and conveniently in a pocket. This durable folding knife features a standard jigged dark red bone handle with two full length blades, the clip blade and the pen blade. The Clip blade is commonly used as a multi-purpose blade and preferred for detail work. Then Pen blade is great for light work. This knife is constructed with our chrome vanadium (CV) steel. Some knife lovers will settle for nothing less than chrome vanadium blades, since this special formula of alloyed steel is the “original” Case blade steel. Case chrome vanadium blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish. This ensures that your knife will be around for future generations to enjoy. This pocket knife is suitable for everyday demands, the outdoors, or hiking. Comes conveniently packaged in a box. Made in Bradford, PA, USA from domestic and imported materials.

Closed length: 2 3/4", brown plastic jigged scales, polished nickel bolsters. Back springs are highly polished and pretty close to flush when blades are open and closed. I could not see any gaps between back springs, liners, bolsters or scales.
Main, clip point blade length from tang to point is 1 7/8" long x .405" wide x 1/16" thick, tapering to 1/32 at the point. Blade pull slightly stiff but smooth, nail nick is a little shallow but useable. Blade is not well centered when closed, slight rub on one liner but not a real problem.
Small pen blade length from tang to point is 1 3/8" x .270" wide x 1/16" thick, tapering to 1/32" at the point. Blade pull is slightly stiff but smooth, nail nick slightly shallow but useable. Blade is well centered when closed.
Both blades have very defined half stops, which I like since it gives me the opportunity to get a better pinch/grasp when opening and assure fingers are out of the way when closing, large knives have more area to pinch/grasp without getting skin on cutting edges than small blades, half stops are welcome.
Blades were useably sharp, slightly toothy, most will not feel the need to sharpen further. Blades are stainless steel, Case does not advertise what grade. I like super sharp blades and had no trouble getting them that way on my water stones.
There has been some comparison to Rough Rider's peanut pattern, since I have both, I will say that the Case has slightly wider and thicker blades than the Rough Rider and is some what more heavier duty, this is not a slam against the thinner narrower blade since they have their uses.
This seems to be a well made knife, I like it. I have also learned to love these small peanut pattern jack knives, small, compact, fit anywhere and do most cutting chores which is probably why they have been so popular for so many years. I think any one who uses or might use a pocket knife should try one of these peanut patterns.
♣Case knives are still 100% made in USA by real expert craftsmen.
♣EXACT fit and finish on all mating pieces, smooth opening, and beautiful to look at. They still take obvious PRIDE in their work.
♣Real dyed bone handles.
♣They hold an edge like no other knife I have ever owned- they stay sharper longer than my Shrades, Gerbers, Bucks, or Kershaws.
♣Tough! The handles have never loosened or come off on any of my Case knives.
♣These are not just good quality knives- they are among the BEST knives made. Period.
When my grandpa passed away in 1994, I received his Case pocket knife. It was the only knife he ever carried with him and he had probably used it for 25 or 30 years before I got it. It is still a great knife to this day and holds a fine edge for a long time. I have since bought a couple other Case knives and I expect they will become heirlooms to my own grandchildren someday.
