From the manufacturer
The Russlock pattern was named after Case founder, J. Russel 'Russ' Case. A gimped lever sticks out slightly off the end of the handle providing convenient one-hand opening. This collection features Tru-Sharp surgical steel and Chrome Vanadium folding blades with bone or synthetic handles. With the combination of modern design and the handcrafted quality of Case, this knife is sure to make a great addition to your collection.
Russlock Knife Features
This collection offers two different blade types; the clip blade and the drop point blade.
The clip blade is equipped for cutting and slicing in tight spots, while the drop point blade excels at cutting and carving. These blades are both ideal for every day carry and simple chores.
The gimped lever (pictured above) provides the convenient one-handed opening.
This pattern features a liner lock mechanism. The liner lock opens via a tensioned metal liner inside the handle. Opening the blade activates the lock and unlocking is achieved by placing the thumb on the front part of the liner and pushing to the left which releases the blade. This allows for easy one-hand opening and closing.
Our Russlock knives are ideal for prepping food in the kitchen or while out camping.
These knives are also suitable for everyday tasks such as opening mail, boxes, and cutting cord.
Care Tips for Case Knives
Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.
Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.

The knife isn't too big to carry, either in my suit or in my jeans (4.25" closed, 2.5" blade length). The one-handed opening takes getting used to but after the first day I had it down to an easy motion. The red bone is nice; I've gotten two compliments on it from two friends, both saying that it reminded them of something their father/grandfather carried which is a nice change from the more modern knives that I have like the SOG Flash 1. I've caught myself just taking the knife out of my pocket just too look at it several times already. A note on the bone handle, the red coloring may or may not be uniformly distributed throughout the entire handle. If you take a look at the product picture above, you'll see what I mean at the bottom right corner, top left corner and bottom left corner.
The Chrome Vanadium blade is nice and it comes very sharp right out of the box (sliced through a piece of paper with ease). Some research done on Chrome Vanadium informed me that it is easily sharpened and that it holds an edge very well, better than Case's stainless steel blades. The trade off is that it is not as rust resistant as the stainless steel blades (keep in mind though, there are no blades which are truly rust-proof, just more resistant than others) The CV will have a patina over time, which I personally think is nice and will give the knife character.
If you're looking for a pocket knife which isn't run of the mill and has character coupled with a sharp edge, definitely consider this RussLock.
The reason for four stars is I had another stainless russlock break but I am harder on knives than mosst people.
One hand opening, while not as fast as the Tacticool assisted operating or blade studded knives, it is a one hand operation. A true classic.
Finally, it's loosening up a bit and is almost easy to open one-handed with the flipper. I've read that a bit of lube on the pivot makes that easier.
I thought I had lost this and ordered another one. Broke my heart. Before it even shipped, I found it under my car seat. Cancelled the order in time.
That's how much I love this knife. Wouldn't want to go without it. It's that good.
