This was such a great movie! I love the storyline, I love the acting, I love the whole premise. One guy is so smitten by a girl he will do ANYTHING to get her attention and as he does, she falls in love with him. Kind of creepy as he stalks her facebook page, but it works out well in the end as he comes clean. Worth the money to rent. Sweet story, wish it lasted longer.
This film surprised me. Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood are fantastic! It made me laugh and I found myself rooting for them. If you are looking for a clever and funny indie with just a little romance, check this one out!
Writer boy meets barista girl. He falls for her, wants to write about her. He’s a commissioned author for a major New York publisher, writing novels based on popular movies (think Marvel). He wants to be a serious writer, and he wants to write a real novel, one that comes from his own life experiences. So boy writer cyberstalks barista girl — mirrors her lifestyle and interests. This fuels his creative juices, and she becomes his muse. But writer boy is out of his element. What does barista girl like about him anyway? He’s nothing but a made-up version of himself, one fit to impress her. She’d never love the real him — would she?
I love this quirky indie romcom set in one of my favorite places in the world (Brooklyn). I relate to the writing thing, as I too am a writer who gets a little too carried away with her romantic idealizations. The cast is excellent. Justin Long is adorkable as the cute but awkward Sam and Evan Rachel Wood nails it as Birdie. She‘s your typical Manic Pixie Dream Girl, but she’s still a fun and unique character. (Love her on WESTWORLD; I even have a huge girl crush on her.) Vince Vaughn is hilarious as Sam’s editor, closing his phone calls to Sam with “I love you.” Peter Dinklage, Busy Philippe, and Keri O’Donnell complete the awesome, laugh-out-loud cast. Downsides? The Facebook stalking thing. Yes, we’ve all done it, but this film illustrates the reasons why we should not. Plus it’s creepy. That’s why I don‘t do it anymore. Other than that, this is a great film! Perfect for in-flight viewing. Four out of five iced coconut lattes.
Watchable but no conflict; lack of chemistry between leads. Story does not explain why Justin's character would fall over himself chasing the female lead as hard as he does, nor does it explain why female lead decides she likes him.
This was a cute movie. I didn't expect it to be good at first (even if I'm a fan of Justin Long) and was kind of reluctant to spend the $6.99 ... but it turned out to be a great choice.
Eh. It had its funny moments but mostly the guy is an idiot. His circumstances aren't terrible enough to warrant his attitude. Especially his attitude towards himself. But that's just one persons opinion and everyone has different tastes. So watch it yourself instead of worrying about what other people think of it.
