You can think of the Bold Trifold as an upgrade from the Bold Standby. Although the design is a little different, all the essential qualities are the same. The sectional front cover design is the inspiration behind its name, Bold Trifold. This case shows off a simple and classy look that that appeals to students and professionals.
The all-around pocket and velcro flap help secure the tablet in place for a snug fit. The front cover is uniquely designed to transform into a comfortable viewing stand as well. Precise cut-outs and openings enable convenient full access to all Kindle Fire HD 7 features, including perforation for the dual-speakers. And most importantly, the built-in magnetic strip provides the sleep/wake feature.
The durable synthetic leather exterior and soft suede-like interior build-up of the case provides great protection from damage and unwanted scratches so you can just grab your Kindle Fire HD 7 and be ready to go, knowing it will be protected at all times

While it is a budget case, it is certainly a good value for the price. Fit on the Fire HD is perfect. Unlike my other case it has a pocket that the Kindle fits in to not elastic straps in the corners. Both work well but I prefer the fitted pocket. There are cut-outs for all of the ports and controls including the rear speakers. The design allows you to charge the device with the case closed which is a nice touch.
The outside cover material is very thin. That makes for a light case, which is good for reading but I would question its durability. Generally mine is carried around in my backpack with my laptop so it doesn't get banged around. My guess would be that if you don't carry yours around in a padded backpack and have a tendency to drop it this might not be for you. Several reviews noted a bad smell when they received it. I was concerned about that, but mine doesn't seem to have that issue. Maybe it's only the purple ones or they have much more sensitive olfactory systems than me.
I'm not super impressed with the origami folding system for use as a stand. It does work, but it is a bit wobbly. So if you're interested in watching movies in a moving vehicle it probably won't work well. If you're sitting in the library it should be okay. I have not tried this out with power and headphones plugged in so that may be better or worse.
The feature that I was most interested in was the magnetic strip for the sleep/wake when you open/close the case. It does work, but not every time. I would say it's about 70%. Not sure if this is an issue with the Kindle or the case. While I was hoping for better on that it is not a problem for me to hit the button.
Overall this is a good case for the money. Would I pay $30 for it? No. But if you get it for $10 or less it is a good deal. It certainly is not a suit of armor, more to protect from smudges and scratches which is all I need.
Still, the thing fits well, provides excellent corner protection, and undercuts the rest of its made-in-China competition. Mine didn't have any odor issues that a few others mentioned, either.
Pros: auto sleep wake feature
It can charge with the cover open or close
The trifold stands works well
Cover wipes clean easily
Offers great protection even from my 1 year old
Not too bulky
Cons: The only one I have is fairly minor - you do have insert the device upside down in order for it to be properly installed with all the opening lining up with the correct buttons/outlets. This was no big thing for me as I could simply rotate the device for apps that don't automatically rotate.
Overall I would highly recommend this case. It works and looks great and keeps my Kindle Fire HD safe and secure even in my purse.
