Needless to say, there is absolutely no blue in the face. It's all dark gray and black. It still looks good and overall, it's a nice watch if you need a rugged design.
Other main problem: the light sucks and it's nearly impossible to read in the dark. You may get enough light to see the hands, but forget about being able to see the date seconds (digital). The light comes up from the bottom and just kind of casts shadows over the whole face. And since the digital sections are recessed a bit, they get no light. The tips of the hands are painted white, but they should have been made to glow in the dark. Some indiglo behind the digital would have been nice too when you hit the light button.
I threw up some pictures to show what I'm talking about. It was tough to get the camera focused in the dark, but I think you can still tell the issue.
I do really like the watch. I specifically wanted another G Shock because I wear it for work (at night...figures) and they get beat up, and they do look good, but I'm kind of disappointed and may send it back for something else if I can find something that catches me eye more.
EDIT: The watch face DOES have Glow-in-the-dark features; however, they don't hold "energy" or brightness for very long. I can be out at night and have to flash the watch with my flash light in order to get it to glow. It's faded back to unviewable about 4-5 minutes later. Again, this may be on purpose for tactical applications. Also, been wearing it a while now and I do really like it. Don't let the small features shy you away from purchasing.
As far as the features of the watch: It's got a large, clear display and the chrome hands make it easy to check the time at a glance. I can switch between date mode and digital time display with the press of a button, and although I don't do much traveling I can switch between time zones very easily. It also features an alarm, timer, and stopwatch which are easy enough to program. The included instruction booklet, while pretty small print, is very well written and easy to understand.
All in all, a great watch!
