I've only had this watch for five days, but so far I love it. It has many more features than I will probably ever use, though I bought it knowing that ahead of time. Some may say the price is too much for someone who doesn't plan on using the barometer or altimeter often, but I think the build quality and aesthetics justify the cost.

I shopped around for a watch that I could wear for both work and casual occassions, but which also had some sporty features with it, and I believe this fits all of that criteria perfectly. I still don't plan on swimming with it or playing sports with it... $500 to me is too expensive to risk tarnishing the watch, no matter what the instruction booklet says it can handle. The watch came with a Medium charge level, and was fully charged after only a few minutes out in the sun.

The only thing I will say beware about is that, while the color description DOES say black/black, in the pictures the watch face looked very blue to me. Upon seeing the watch in person, the face is actually a gunmetal grey (so I would say the picture is misleading), though the dial around the outer edge is blue, as is the skeletal structure of the second hand.

I've taken this watch literally around the world and it performs ok. For time display it's very accurate and easy to adjust between time zones. The compass proved accurate to within 10 degrees while in the aircraft and may be more accurate when not so close to all the metal in the cockpit. The barometer is often well off the local airport reading, but that is not a big problem since I can manually calibrate both barometer and altitude to a known reference. At $480 though, this watch seems overpriced. If you want a watch with these features, look carefully at the lower cost models which do most everything this one does but at a much lower price.

Exceeded expectations. Great features and great looks. Always displays the correct time. Band was large enough for my big wrist. Scratch resistant mineral window. Easier than most to set the multitude of functions.

I don't think the picture of the watch is correct. I believe the picture is of the Casio ProTrek 5100-1...not the Casio ProTrek 5000Y-1. Both watch are fine timepieces. The 5100-1 has solid luminescent hands. The 5000Y-1's hands sport an open air design and are not luminescent. The 5100-1 is black with black trim. The 500Y-1 is black with blue trim. The 5100-1 is a slightly newer model, but both watches share almost identical features and mechanisms.

I love the style and function of this watch. It is my second solar/atomic pathfinder first was a paw1200. My old one illluminates when you rotate your wrist, but this one does not so I miss that, but this one is slightly smaller wich is nice. Old one is still going strong after 8+ years so I expect the same from this one. Atomic and solar are definately the way to go. Throw in the auto ilumination or good glow in the dark dials and you'd have a solid 5 stars.

I have both the Casio PRW5000Y-1 and PRW5100-1 Atomic Solar watches. They have everything you need for outdoor adventures and international travel. They're both very professional looking, well made and durable. They have lots of functions, and, therefore, keeping the manual close by is handy. Once you learn the functions, no problem. I downloaded the manuals as a .pdf file in the Kindle apps of my iPhone and iPad. I recommend these watches without reservation. Enjoy!

I got this watch as a birthday present from my wife and I loved it. One of the best watches I have ever had. It is a bit expensive though and I am sure I will not use all the features in it. But it is a very good looking watch and I could not have asked for better. I am a frequent traveller and I travel through different time zones often. Setting up the time zone to my curent city is a breeze and this might be the only feature which I will use often. Also it is Solar and so no worry about changing the battery.

Go for it if yo like the looks.

These watches are dependable and durable. Used one through rugged conditions during 4 years of work in Iraq and then 4 years of work in Afghanistan, and all w/o any problems.
