With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.
Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

It is really not that difficult to set. It is not intuitive, but if you read the manual (easier to do on-line than to read the 2x3-inch pages of the booklet provided), it makes sense and is easy to do.
As others have said, the color is misleading in the above photo. At first I was disappointed, especially since the buckle is white plastic. It looked cheap. But after wearing it a while, I really like it. The purple is a pale purple tint on a see-through jelly band. It almost looks blue. The face has a purple tinge, but the surrounding part is more of a pale grey. Overall it looks femine, but is closer in size to that of your usual men's watch. Since it is so pale, it actually looks more feminine and grown up that what it would have if it were more like the picture.
It's a great watch. I have read a lot of reviews of this watch and it seems to be more reliable than Timex. I have owned four Timex Ironmans and had to send two of them back (to the tune of $10 each) for warranty repair. One stopped being waterproof after about 7 months, and the other had a malfunctioning alarm from the get-go. So far so good with the Casio (4 months and counting).
So here's the kicker... this is what is holding me back from giving it 5 stars... like I said, I rarely take it off and under the clear plastic around the face, I'm just starting to see mildew building up. I would have thought that with all the features they put into the watch and the cost, it would have been easy to prevent this. The watch will definitely need to be cleaned out soon and I'm really disappointed in how they couldn't create a better seal between the parts.
I still love this watch and get tons of compliments when I wear it, even after all these years. It is a classic and fun watch that can last a long time. These are great to wear for working out and swimming, because they are waterproof. I have had mine for a couple of years, and it still looks brand new. Some other rubber watches start to develop nasty dirt on the wrist band. I haven't had that happen with this watch, so I think the material is of pretty high quality.
So, if you're looking more for a fun accessory, I would recommend this watch. But if you are looking for a precise timepiece with lots of functionality, I'd probably choose something else.
It has a funtional, retro appearance, and should prove to be quite hard-wearing, just the thing for a busy life - style.
The watch was attractively priced. If I had purchased it in the U.K. it would have been much more expensive.
Many thanks for the quick delivery.
