Product description
Designed by the same engineering team behind all of Casper’s sleep products, the dog mattress is a universally comfortable sleep surface for our four-legged friends. We combined our mattress-making know-how with extensive dog-centered research to create a sleep environment that caters to canines’ natural behaviors. Pups spend more than half their lives sleeping. If any species deserves an outrageously comfortable sleep surface, it’s dogs. So we combined pressure-relieving memory foam and durable support foam to create a bed that loves Fido back. Even the most well-behaved dogs have bad days. But no matter how rough they play, most dogs can’t rip through our durable cover material — it’s made with one of the strongest bonded microfibers available. It’s so tough, similar materials are used in performance footwear designed to withstand years of abuse. This bed will keep its shape, thanks to its fortified construction; It won’t sink, slump, or sag over time. Dogs scratch or dig before laying down. That’s an instinct they inherited from their wild ancestors, who would kick up dirt to find cooler ground and brush away debris before turning in for the night. Our surface features excess material on top to mimic the sensation of pawing at loose earth. So dig in, doggies. There’s a reason pups like to squeeze into tight spaces. They’ve learned to seek refuge from predators, so they feel safest in enclosed areas. The supportive foam bolsters of the mattress create a safe space for dogs to lay their heads — literally and figuratively.

You have to 'assemble' your dog bed as it arrives in pieces...let that sink in. Each piece is fully exposed revealing just how sub-par the quality of the entire thing is before you even assemble it (if you get that far). The bed cover itself feels cheap, not soft or comfortable to the touch, and just overall meh and having zero 'WOW, this is a Casper dog bed!' impact.
Mine was boxed back up with a return request and label slapped on it within 10 minutes of opening it.
Would go into more detail but my review keeps being declined by Amazon even though I’m following the guidelines.
I purchased this Casper bed, along with a Sealy Lux Quad Orthopedic Bed, to replace two Eluxury orthopedic mattresses that I purchased 2 years ago. The Eluxury mattresses were no longer supportive and my Goldens were sinking into them.
I was disappointed with the Casper bed as soon as I opened the box. The bed consists of 5 separate pieces (and a cover) - 1 mattress and 4 foam sides - and the mattress section itself is quite small for a large. Coming out of the box, the mattress looked and felt like a low-quality foam pillow. It was light-weight and seemed flimsy. I unpacked it and let it sit for a few hours to let it expand and take shape....but 2 hours later it was still scrunched, misshapen, and flat. This actually turned out to be a good thing, since it made the Casper bed easier to get back into the box in preparation for returning it. I tried lying down on the Casper myself, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It was not at all supportive and I could feel the hard floor beneath me. The price of this bed is outrageous for the quality; it is worth about a quarter of what Casper is charging.
The Sealy, on the other hand, felt heavier and denser than any foam dog bed I have felt before, which is a sign of a higher quality foam mattress. The Sealy bed filled out quickly after unpacking it and was easy to assemble. When I tried lying down on the Sealy it was supportive, without being hard.
When I purchased these two beds I was actually more skeptical about the Sealy. I anticipated wanting to keep the Casper and return the Sealy, but we will definitely be returning the Casper and getting a second Sealy.
I'm surprised at all of the positive reviews for the Casper. My guess is that these come from people that have not tried out a lot of other foam dog beds. The cover does seem to be pretty nice...perhaps that leads to the higher ratings?
