Contact Amazon support and they told me that the return window expired a month after I purchased it. Called Casper and they were incredibly flippant and patronizing on the phone. Told me to go to Amazon. Nothing they could do.
So neither Amazon nor Casper will apparently HONOR the advertised commitment listed here. You've all be WARNED.
Of course, I'm not giving up that easily. But know what you're getting here. And seriously wonder whether these reviews are all real.
Update: I've spent hours trying to get this resolved. Been transferred and (accidentally?) hung up on multiple times. Told by several customer service representatives that Amazon will NOT pick up the item. Also told that they might pick up the item if it is wrapped up / packaged in essentially the same condition that it was received in. REALLY?
Trust me. Do NOT order this from Amazon under any circumstances if you ever think that you might need to return it.
Call Amazon yourself and you will see what I’m saying is accurate.
My wife and I have always loved memory foam mattresses to begin with. We love how they contour around your body and give you that "hug" feeling. Before a Casper we owned a memory foam mattress made by Serta that was sold at Sams Club. The queen size was approx. $400. We liked it, but it definitely got hot at times like the "typical" memory foam mattress.
We moved and decided we wanted to upgrade to a King mattress and started shopping. We decided on a Casper based on many reviews I had read and also comparison done by sleepopolis of the various online mattresses like Tuft and Needle, Purple, and the likes. My top two choices were between Tuft and Needle and Casper. Tuft and Needle was cheaper but it also seemed like it was a cheaper mattress, it only had two different foam layers, the top layer and the base layer. The Casper had 5 different types of foam and looked like a higher quality product (photos on sleepopolis).
Both had 100 night trials so I figured I'd start with one and try the other if I didn't like it.
We bought Casper on a lightning deal on Amazon for $899 King size, which is a steal about 3 months ago! Once it was delivered we put it out on our platform bed base and let it rise, it did not seem to take very long, a day at most, for it to be full size. The cover is removable and very soft and comfortable. First thing I noticed is this memory foam mattress had a lot more bounce to it than my last mattress, but still had the contouring effect that we like.
I hardly noticed a bad smell, and I have very good smell/taste senses. Any smell that was there was gone within a day or two. The mattress definitely keeps you cool and I have never felt hot on it once. I would give the mattress an overall soft feel but still with firm support from the base layers. It is extremely comfortable. Make sure not to use a waterproof mattress cover because this bed has breathable foam and when you cover it with a mattress cover like that it seemed to ruin the softness and breath-ability of the mattress as a whole because not matter how "breathable" a waterproof mattress protector is, it still cannot move air through it the way this mattress was designed to work. We stuck with just the cover that is on it with a fitted sheet.
My wife has lupus and that means her joints and muscles can hurt a lot as if she had run a marathon from just daily life. My wife has told me that at night all that pain goes away and when she wakes up after sleeping on this mattress she feels rejuvenated and ready for another day. I am not exaggerating. I have noticed a difference in her frequency and severity of comments about pain, they have both lessened significantly. I also have lower back pain, but this mattress helps relieve it, not create it. I wake up with no pain in my back whatsoever when sleeping on this mattress and I sleep on side, stomach, and back. I feel that at all times I am supported and my spine is aligned.
Now for the quantitative proof. I have a fitbit that tracks my sleep. It does this through heart rate monitoring. It tracks how much time you spend in each phase of sleep from awake, light, REM, and deep sleep. With my previous mattress I would get around 14% deep sleep and I would be awake about 18%. I have slept on this mattress for 3 months, and now my average deep sleep has increased to 18% (sometimes getting as high as 22%) and my awake has decreased to 14% (with lows in the 10%). This means I am spending less time consciously or unconsciously awake and more time in deep sleep on a Casper mattress. Most the time, if you are tossing and turning it is because there are pressure points on your body where you are laying and you are moving to a new position because that pressure was too much and began to be uncomfortable and so you move to alleviate it. There are nights I go to bed and basically don't move from the position I fell asleep in because that pressure is being relived by the mattress and you really do feel like you are just sleeping on a cloud. I know that sounds cliche but there is no better way to explain it.
We joke about how this bed ruined our sex life because it is so comfortable and inviting that when you lay down on it, you instantly want to fall asleep, causing us to miss out on other activities.
A few complaints. Because the mattress comes rolled and compressed in a box, when unfolding and allowing to come to full size, I did have to adjust the cover and the corners were a bit squished on one side (the inner side of the compressed rolled up mattress) almost to deformity, but they have since recovered, but this took weeks to occur.
The mattress is breathable and the latexy foam on the top does transfer a bit of motion only when one person is laying down already, and another gets onto the bed, you get a very slight feel of the bed "adjusting" to both of you, almost like an air mattress, but a lot less aggressive. Once the person is on the bed though, normal movements at night like rolling over and stuff cannot be felt between companions.
Overall we are very happy with our purchase and will be keeping it. We love this mattress. I am honestly confused with these negative reviews because we love it so much. Just try it for yourself, you have nothing to lose, they will come pick it up within 100 nights if you don't like it, and yes the warranty period does apply to Amazon purchases, my current purchase says it is still eligible for return until Oct 13 2018 and I received it July 5, exactly 100 days after it was delivered.
Despite taking those precautions, the mattress sleeps very hot. I wake up several times at night, and can only sleep with a sheet or it gets extremely uncomfortable. The support is adequate but that doesn't matter when you are overheating
Also disappointing with the lack of customer service. I called customer service 2 times with very different but poor results
Call 1- (Casper Customer Service) We will immediately get in touch with you and have product quality team get in touch with you. We are sending you a survey to fill out. (no survey or follow up happened)
Call 2- (Casper Customer Service)We think this is not a product quality issue, so we are not going to reach out to that team on your behalf, sorry. Some customers are more sensitive to heat from foam mattresses. You can sell it on Craigslist but the warranty will not transfer. We will send you a survey (no survey was sent)
How did this company supposedly become the leading mattress brand in the US? Buyer beware....this mattress gets hot and the customer support is poor
UPDATE: After seeing this review on Amazon, Casper reached out via email. They still never sent any kind of survey or brought up my problems with excessive heat from the mattress to the product quality team.
INSTEAD- they kept sending annoying emails, demanding links to the sheets I bought as well as the bed frame. They kept questioning my claims, insisting the problem must be with the bed frame, sheets etc. I had already told them several times that I followed the Casper manufacture directions with regards the sheets and bed frame - but its as if they didn't believe me and asked me to send links or photos of my sheets and bed frame! Unbelievable! Its like they told me I was lying
Finally they told me spend another $100 dollars on some kind of wool topper for my mattress which might help with the heat problems
BUYER BEWARE- IF YOU LIKE ME BOUGHT THE MATTRESS, AND HAVE PROBLEMS WITH QUALITY OR THE EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE MATTRESS- RETURN IT QUICKLY BEFORE THE 100 DAYS. KEEP THE BOX AND ALL THE PACKING MATERIAL. ITS NOT A GOOD PRODUCT

The Casper was a welcome chance to try something different to see if we were ready for a change. We were.
The short story:
~Excellent support for the whole body
~Standard queen size mattress sheets fit
~Easy to unpack
~Easier to move while still in the box
~Didn’t make either of us feel any warmer
~Material used to cover the mattress is nice and has been well stitched
~Found no pressure points
~No back aches or other physical reasons that would keep us from sleeping on it
Night 1 – Not such a good sleep but this was to be expected. Any time we have to stay in a hotel on a different mattress it’s the same thing.
Night 2 – Not bad, still need to get used to no pressure at the edges and inform the wife that my side is my side.
Night 3 – Slept pretty darn good, back feels fine and no complaints.
Night 4 – to infinity and beyond – Sleeping better than on the Posturepedic and now have to figure out how to get it downstairs and the Casper upstairs to our bed.
For people who want more details:
When the Casper arrived I first of all had a hard time imagining that a mattress which is delivered in a box that’s half the width of the mattress would be firm enough to sleep on. I was wrong. They have some powerful elves working at Casper in order to fold and compress the mattress to fit in a box.
Once out of the box the fabric type of sleeve was easy enough to remove and the mattress just popped out, unfolded on its own, and laid itself out, kind of like a self powered Transformer toy. It's wrapped in a full plastic cover to keep it from getting wet while in storage or transit and it also holds in chemical odours. We left the mattress laying on the spare bed downstairs for a day, on day two we couldn’t smell anything so it was time to make it up and give it a test run. As indicated above, it took a bit for us to become comfortable on it but has now replaced the Posturepedic.
Some people have stated that they felt warmer while sleeping on it or other foam mattresses. I can see how this is possible but for us it’s not an issue, neither one of us, even the one of us who has been known to go stand outside the front door in a house coat at -25C for some reason.
Things that could be better:
There are two things that I’m not totally happy about, the first and easiest to get over is the sides. A normal mattress has wire support, for the internal frame and springs, running the length of the outer edges. This helps to keep you from literally rolling out of the bed and give it some support as you get in and out. Any kind of bed frame that has raised side edges will help reduce this effect with the Casper.
The item that will take a lot more getting used to, and more training for the wife on where her side ends, is that like the old (I mean old) mattresses that were made with a connected top wire frame to hold all of the springs together, when laying on the mattress it creates sort of hole which pulls some of the neighbouring material down into what then looks like a funnel the same shape as your body. If the other person gets to close it becomes a gravity well that sucks the other person into it. My wife has named this effect the “funnel of snuggle”. The Posturepedic has individual springs that aren’t connected so the whole gravity well is hardly noticeable and better for two people sleeping on it. All other foam mattresses have the same problem and if Casper can overcome and eliminate or greatly reduce this gravity well it would be a huge advance.
So for now we’ve made the swap and I’ll need to find a way to deal with midnight trespassers to my side.
The bed arrived in a large box that was very heavy. I wasn't able to lift it myself, but once in the house I was able to slide the box to the bedroom and unpack it myself. It was pretty easy to get out and on to the bed. It literally took me minutes to get out and unrolled and in place. I let it sit without linens for a few hours to breathe. It didn't have any noticeable smell and it seemed to be pretty much at max size right away, no waiting for it to take full shape.
I've been sleeping on it now for almost a month. At first I found it a little too firm but over the days I found that it was actually quite comfortable and I would sink into it a little. I'm not sure if it softened a little or if I just started getting used to it. I still prefer something a little more plush. My husband loves it as he does prefer a firmer mattress. He says he has been having less lower back pain in the morning. The other memory foam mattress I had was so firm that you couldn't tell it was a memory foam mattress just by laying on it so that was a big difference.
One of the issues I had with my other memory foam mattress was that it would hold in body heat and I would feel overheated at night. I do not experience this at all with the Casper mattress.
As with my other memory foam mattress, there is little to no bounce. We don't notice movement or hear any noise when someone next to us is tossing and turning or getting out of bed.
All in all, I found it to be a great mattress with great support. I find the price tag to be a little too steep, but the quality of it paired with the 10 year warranty makes it worth it.
