A little non-intuitive to use at first but after about an hour I got it all down. My use is just to xfer cassettes to mp3 format and it does that fine. Would be nice if after it played both sides {while recording to the mp3} it would automatically stop recording and click off. You should expect to use trimmer or sound editing software with any files created bc it doesn't do a great job of separating the tracks for you (when used in that mode). Here is my procedure: insert USB, Press PLAY, long press/hold the >> key to enable auto-track separation, then start recording by tapping the >* key. It says all that in the instructions but the order is critical. Good luck.

Not good for Music-Unit adds it own noise

1. Unit does not employ Dolby B to reduce tape noise like Walkman did
2. Unit electronics adds more hiss and pops and other noises not on your tape.
3. Unit bends the pitch of the music up and down bad WOW and Flutter
4. Put in two new AA batteries and unit play for a few seconds and stops dead. Only USB power cable worked.
I could go on but bottom line is if you are using this to transfer music and you have any kind of critical ear, it will not give you a good transfer. My best feedback to the manufacturer and to Amazon is shoot for a cassette player as good as the Sony Walkman sounded and then transfer that. Maybe they have a higher cost/quality unit in their line that they can offer? Heartbroken to have to return like other reviews here but had to try once. Thanks but no thanks...

DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE!!!!! This player is terribly constructed. I bought it because it claims to be able to record your tapes to a thumb drive, but it does not work. Tried returning it but Amazon will not take it back. Spent about an hour on the chat with the Amzzon rep but he finally told me to contact the seller in China.

When I received the package, it was pretty much what I expected. But when I put a cassette in, all it would do was click back and forth on auto-reverse. If I wanted to listen to the tape, I had to hold the button down. That made it impossible to transfer from cassette to MP3. I returned the product for a full refund. I'll find another source of much higher quality to transfer my cassettes...this one simply did not fit the bill.
