Barry Casson's MAKING IT HAPPEN, Educational, Informative Film
Making it Happen Educational DVD A film about unemployment and its effects on families Father s being unemployed affects not only his financial affairs but puts a considerable strain on family relationships. There is frequent bickering because everyone is inclined to lay blame at someone else s feet. Despite mother s success with sewing for customers, she rejects the bank manager s suggestion she open up a small business, and instead pleads with father to take the opportunity of employment in a cabinet making business. This proposition is rejected by the father on the grounds that he knows nothing about the trade. It is the teenage children who display the spirit of free enterprise and start their own car wash business in order to raise money for the family. Meantime, relationships between parents have deteriorated to the extent the father leaves home briefly. However, news of a friend s suicide puts things sufficiently in perspective to make the father return home to reconcile with his family and accept the cabinet-making proposition. Running Time 24 mins.
