I've been emailing with the writer of this novel about her Rosy Burkies and all I can say is
What an awesome person.
I'm not a reader but, I will read for a good book like this one.
The scary part about this book is that it’s only a matter of time before these fictional happenings will become reality – in fact with abortion and even letting babies born alive after an abortion attempt die or be killed – is already coming to fruition. The thought of it being allowed by law to kill a child up to age 4 is beyond our comprehension, for those who view children as valuable and as blessings, no matter their abilities levels. What about the family that has “too many” and must make the decision to give their pre-born child away or abort it or give away a child they’re already bonded too? As the saying goes, evil triumphs when good men do nothing, and so Zara’s novel will open many eyes, or at least I pray it does.
**I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion, no other compensation was given.
Zara Heritage peoples her novel with a large cast of eminently believable characters, from innocent children to adults, some of whom enjoy society’s benefits without question while others risk all to affect change. One is a modern day abortion survivor who lost her arm in her mother’s attempt to lose her. Another child loses his finger, and a grandmother other loses the child she has loved and cared for.
Like the Schusterman’s Unwind , Cast me not away builds on society’s neglect for the weak, and its willingness to devalue of human life, hiding atrocity behind nice words. The abortion debate plays its part in this imagined future history, as does faith, but neither are allowed to overwhelm the story. Drawing readers in with intriguing quotes from many sources and a plot that blends excitement, action and suspense with thought provoking situations, the author has created a scary fast-moving story that’s well worth the read. Don’t miss the quotations at the end of the novel – the world’s wide history and faiths have much to teach, and we all have much to learn.
If you’re radically pro-abortion, this won’t be the book for you. But if you’re even vaguely near the fence, if you’re opposed to the devaluing of human life through death penalties, unwarranted war, or any other cause, then read, enjoy, and ponder. May our world become a better place.
I was given a free ecopy of this book and k offer my honest review.
One would like to think that the society portrayed in Cast Me Not Away could never exists, yet many of the societal aspects portrayed in this story are already starting to occur. Cast Me Not Away is a well written book that holds the reader's interest from beginning to end. But more than that, it will make you take a harder look at the direction our society is heading.
