Liz Hedgecock grew up in London, England, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. After several years working in the National Health Service, some short stories crept into the world. A few even won prizes. Then the stories started to grow longer...

Liz lives in Cheshire with her husband and two sons, and when she’s not writing or child-wrangling you can usually find her reading, messing about on Twitter, or cooing over stuff in museums and art galleries. That's her story, anyway, and she's sticking to it.

This second boxset is just as good as the first three cases. The friends are a little older, married, and with small children. But that is not going to stop them from doing what is right. The cases get bigger, more complex, and much more important. Lives are at stake, but the Misses Caster and Fleet are on the case and will not stop until it is solved. Strong women in a age when women of gentle breeding are expected to be taken care of. These ladies show what an intelligent woman with a little courage can do. Great series.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series as well as the Maisie Frobisher books which are based on one of the minor charters from this series. I had a little trouble keeping up with the plot of number 5, but it may have been my fault for losing the thread of the story (I had a really bad headache when I was reading it.) The authors do a good job of telling the stories, the books are well edited, and the description of Victorian England feels correct. I would definitely recommend these books to anyone who likes Victorian female detective stories.

The latest adventures of Victorian ladies Katherine and Connie, all wrapped up in a range of mysteries ranging from blackmailed peers to the overthrow of governments.
The characters have matured and grown into their skins as they cope with the conflicting pull of work and family.
If I have one criticism, it’s that the plots can be a little too convoluted at times, but the main characters are well drawn, the historical detail is fine and the books are so enjoyable!
Highly recommended as a pick me up in gloomy January.

I enjoyed Books 1-3 of The Caster & Fleet Mysteries, I could not wait to get stuck into Books 4-6.
I love that I have no idea what is going right until the grand reveal in these mysteries. But I have become immersed in the world of Katherine and Connie, and am always wondering what will happen next to them and their nearest and dearest.
It has been such a joy to find this series. I have not wanted it to come to end.
Searching for more similar stories, I have just bought the Maisie Frobisher Mysteries.
