Ripped from the headlines is right on in describing this tale. When a young man in a so so job happens on an apparent attempted murder while walking in the park and interferes saving the couple but getting shot in the process his life changes dramatically. It turns out the woman of the couple is the daughter of a mega developer and tycoon who offers the young man a job with his team at a great salary but some strong restrictions on his actions. Basking in the glow of being haled in the press as a hero, agrees to the job. something he will regret later. The tycoon is running for President on his won party, the "Mayflower Party" and claims the he will be financing it all himself. Sound familiar? When he orchestrates huge rallies with "red hats" and works up the crowds his popularity grows. When his polls show him lagging behind is established rivals he resorts to dirty tricks, his daughter's husband mysteriously ends up floating in the river, his lavish tower office and home in the city is subject to demonstrations and there are rumors deals with the Russians. Now is it familiar? More hardball attacks on the press and our young man get wise and resigns to the determent on his friend and himself. A very interesting piece and you could almost be reading the daily papers and not a novel.

I read dozens of thrillers a year, and tend to review (on my own web site and for a magazine) those that I like very much. Every once in awhile I come across a story that literally pulses on the page . . . one that combines relentless suspense with evocative writing complete with passages and bits of conversation that beg to be read again and again. That's what happened as I read The Castle. The story’s a gripper from the first line to the last, and would have stood on its own as a page-turner even if it wasn’t based on terrifying things that are happening in this country right now. Take a look at the synopsis and other reviews and you’ll know right off what I’m talking about, but don’t make the mistake of thinking you know how it’ll end. Because you don’t.

Be prepared for some very cool surprises as you’re swept away by this awesome book. It’s definitely Jason Pinter’s best, and a good reminder of why he’s one of the best thriller writers at work today.

THE CASTLE one of those rare books that keeps you turning the pages and makes you question just how close it is to reality. The story in a nutshell: Remy Stanton is your average ambitious guy, when his instincts kick into gear and he saves a couple from being killed in a robbery. Turns out one of the people he saved is Alena Griggs, who is the daughter of billionaire presidential candidate Rawson Griggs. Griggs sees that Remy has become a celebrity, and hires Remy so that celebrity can get him political points. Remy and Rawson develop an interesting father-son bond, and Remy becomes close with Alena, who is smart like her father but seems to shy away from the spotlight a bit. Unfortunately, she’s married. Then some major things happen that I don’t want to spoil, but it forces Remy to make some decisions that seem impossible. This is a smart, gripping thriller with strong characters and a story that’s obviously inspired by real life, but also far enough away from it to feel fresh.

I have always enjoyed reading books written by Jason Pinter and The Castle does not disappoint at all. One night Remy Stanton interrupts an attempt on Elena Griggs and her husband Paul Blackstone at the near cost of his own life. Elena is the daughter of rich powerful Rawson Griggs. Due to Remy's headliners as being a hero, Rawson hires Remy to run in his campaign. Rawson announces his run for President of the US under a new third party. All the characters are described very well and there are many twists and turns that you must read for yourself. This book closely reminds readers of the most recent elections, where foreign governments get involved behind the scenes to promote the outcome of the election to help Rawson Griggs is portrayed like a tipple con man. Very good read, you will all definitely enjoy this book very much.

Trump reincarnated in print?

Gregg's campaign messages sounded very similar to Trump's. However, President Trump did not espouse or condone violence. It was just some of the economic and national security issues were fairly similar. Good plot and suspenseful action.
