Do not feed this to your dog! It could give your dog heart disease!

I have been feeding this food to my dog for years (this is an updated recipe but similar to the one before). She is 9 years old and now has heart disease with an enlarged heart. The FDA has linked grain free diets to heart disease in dogs. I believe the peas, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and tapioca are the cause. The one thing I noticed about her on this diet is that she pooped a lot. Like, pooped more than she ate. They were healthy stools but way too much. I believe all that fiber actually depleted her body of necessary nutrients and led to her heart disease. The sweetest dog in the world and seeing her have labored breathing now and passing out on occasion is devastating. Do not feed this food to your dog. The sad reality is there isn't really any good foods to feed your dog. They either have all those starches and fiber or they have toxic, crappy ingredients, or they put ingredients in like spinach, kale, and other greens that contain oxalates. I have started making her food and I suggest you do the same. I get the raw meat tubes from primal pet and then add 23% of the weight of her daily food intake with vegetables and fruits and seeds that I know are safe. So 77% meat, organs, and bones and 23% vegetables, seeds, and fruits.

My dogs loved it and all was well for a bit but I don’t know if we got a bad bag or if the formula changed or what but my year old Pomchi was rushed to the emergency vet for vomiting up blood. Since she seemed ok otherwise my vet have her a shot & some meds and had us change her diet to boiled chicken and white rice for a few days, which we did for both our dogs. Now the other dog vomited blood last night after eating the dog food for about a week. I don’t know if it’s ingredients or something is cutting them when they swallow it but it’s scary to see your dog throwing up blood. Now we have to take them back to the vet to get looked over again which really puts me in a hard place as I’m disabled & that emergency vet appointment was not cheap!! So upsetting as o thought I was feeding them good food & I checked all the ingredients before buying. I would stay away from this food. Or if you want to try it, get it from a pet store & not amazon. Seems anyone can sell on here now & not just reputable companies...

Our 12yr Healthy dog became 'old' overnight!!

It's been about a year since we changed our dog to this food. I thought we were doing
out best, buying this product. I noticed about 6 months ago, our 12 yr old dog, seemed to become 'old' overnight. He was always a healthy dog for a 12 yr old. I didn't worry, because everyone told me, he's 12yr and that's what happens. Then it was time for our second dog to start eating adult dog food. He started to throw up. I then found out our 12 yr dog had blood in his stool. So, decided to read the low reviews on amazon.

I was horrified to know others were having the same issues with their dogs. So I decided to give both of our dogs raw meat, chicken, chicken organs, fruit, and vegetables and raw milk.

In one week our 12yr started to come alive again. It's been about 3 wks now and our 12yr old is back to his healthy young self. He lost a few pounds and is playing and running around with our new dog, who will be one in Dec .

This food is so awesome. I honestly have tried 11 bags of different brands from the popular pet stores. Thank goodness they have a great return policy if your dog doesn't like it. I have a small cairn terrier who is very spoiled, and has never liked large crunchies. This brand has great ingredients and the size is so perfect. I would say that it is the same size as my pinky nail. It also has a fantastic closure that makes it so easy to keep fresh and open each time. I wish it was cheaper in price, but at least I know I am getting food that is great for my fur baby. Will continue to buy. Highly recommend.

Our little papillon-chihuahua of 14 years was developing hot spots, particularly one on his chest that appeared to be an open sore. He'd try to lick it but couldn't reach it and that's how I noticed the spot. He'd been eating Halo Spot's Stew (chicken) at the time. So in doing a little researching and looking around, I decided on Castor & Pollux's organic kibble for small breeds. He likes it plenty good on it's own but I do snip up a chicken jerky into tiny bits as a topper. The hot spots went away nearly instantly. I didn't toss out or give the Halo away. I am mixing it at a 2 to 1 ratio w/ the C&P....one scoop Halo to 2 scoops C&P until I use up the Halo. It was interesting that just cutting back that much cleared up the hot spots. He only has 10 teeth now and the kibble size is small and thin and easily eaten. We're on our second 8 lb bag ad will order as long as Buddy contines to do well with a kibble.

This seemed like a good choice considering I'm picky about what I feed my dog. However, my small Olivia could not tolerate this food. She threw up &/or coughed up bile each day I fed her this product. Wasn't sure if it was the dog food at first, but the consistent problem couldn't be ignored.
This surprised me considering the product details and ingredients list. Went back to Blue Basics to be safe and Olivia has been fine since.
