Cat 911: Fixing their Care, from The Way of Cats (Learn The Way of Cats) Kindle Edition

3.4 out of 5 stars 10

If your cat problems have reached an urgent stage, call Cat 911. The experienced cat rescue person behind The Way of Cats will teach you how to:

Train the cat where and what to scratch on.

Convince the cat to let you sleep... all night.

Solve those horrible, embarrassing, litter box issues.

Maybe you have a fat cat, a fussy cat, or a cat who begs for food every waking hour. Maybe your cat won't let you groom him, or your attempts to train the cat only makes her avoid your petting hand.

It's all in Cat 911.

Did you know cat advice experts charge $100 an hour? If you get another problem; that's another consultation. While they do great work, you can now get expert advice on your Kindle reader at a fraction of that price.

Here's what some of the author's satisfied clients have to say about The Way of Cats:

--I was going nuts. I'd never had a cat have so much trouble learning to use the litter box. Your advice on what to look for got him with the program, and we've been happy ever since.
DY, stray cat

--Your description of why he was doing it and what I needed to do stopped the howling in a few nights! I'm amazed, and I'm loving having my boy back.
CH, unhappy cat

--I was so worried getting a cat would mess up our new house. But she's behaving like a princess, and doesn't scratch anything but the scratching post you suggested.
MM, shelter cat

--I had to move my 16 year old cat's litter box. But it seemed like nothing I did would get her to realize it was gone, and she kept using the same spot. Your help had her reoriented in no time. Thank you, thank you!
RH, elderly cat

--I thought my fat cat would never lose that weight. I figured his tough time on the street meant he would always be hungry, but now he's sleeker and calmer. The vet is impressed that I could do something he couldn't.
AB, fat cat

--I thought my kitten would grow out of waking me up all the time, but she didn't. Your bedtime routine has us both sleeping through the night.
TN, growing kitten

--When my cat returned from the animal hospital, he didn't want to eat anymore! Your plan on how to get his appetite back took such a load off my mind, and helped him so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
SC, ill cat

Any breed, any background, any cat at any age can develop Basic Care Problems. It could be a bout of poor health, changes in the home, or unnoticed stress that has gotten to the point where the cat can't cope any more. From a settled cat situation suddenly gone wrong to getting that stray cat or shelter kitten settled in, it's time for Cat 911.

The step by step plans will:

1) Stop the problem in its tracks. The first Action Plan is always how to relieve the immediate issue so we have space to think.

2) Explains how to "work the clues" the cat is sending. The book's unique Ask the Cat tips lets you translate from Cat to Human.

3) Guides you in reorganizing the care approach to completely provide for the cat's needs. Whether we have inadvertently been training the cat to scratch our sofa, or didn't realize we were the ones who ruined the cat's litter box, we can't fix what we don't know is broken.

4) Relax, knowing the problem won't come back.

This is the Cat Care Guide you wish you could have started out with. Following the care suggestions in Cat 911 doesn't just fix the cat problem, it's a complete Cat Maintenance Program to keep your cat happy and healthy.

It's time! To enjoy the well-behaved and affectionate pet your cat wants to be.

I was at my wit's end trying to help my 13-y-o kitty, who has been through a lot of medical trauma in the past 6 months. This well-written guide really helped me to start dealing with my kitty's problems. If you have an older cat, sooner or later you are going to have to deal with their diminishing abilities - just like with people, except our kitties age so much faster than we do. Highly recommend this well-written, thoughtful and caring kitty care guide for Cat Butlers whose kitties have special needs!

Cat 911, by Pamela Merritt, is one darn useful book for diagnosing and fixing cat behavior issues - or, as you realize once you read the book, YOUR behavior issues. As in, perhaps you don't understand why the cat is doing what it's doing. Perhaps you're unintentionally creating a situation where the cat, driven by instinct and physical needs, is making both of you miserable.

This book gives you insight into what motivates that charming little predator that you've brought into your home and life. Understand the need, and accept that the animal just isn't going to quit trying to fulfill that need, and you're usually half way to solving a behavior problem. But, thank goodness, this book isn't just a treatise on why cats do what they do - it's chock full of clearly explained examples of what to do.

Have a cat that used to use the litter box, but stopped? Is your cat still using the box, but driving you nuts with annoying tendencies like throwing lots of litter all over the floor? A large section of the book deals with all kinds of litter box problems, which the author says is the "Number one cat problem ever!"

Do the legs on your furniture look like you fed the dining room suite through an industrial chipper-shredder? Consult the "Scratching Problems" section and learn how to tell what kind of scratching post your cat needs (yes, NEEDS.) Solve the cat's problem, fulfill its need, and get not only the kind of behavior you want, but the unstressed loving companionship that you both crave.

The author has lots of experience raising cats, rescuing cats, observing cats and writing about cats. She runs the Way of Cats blog and website. There's plenty of great cat advice there too, in a more expanded form. The Cat 911 book is condensed, specific and targeted toward the big problems that many people have with their cats. If you've never owned a cat, but are thinking of getting one, I recommend buying Cat 911 and reading it BEFORE bringing the cat home. You'll have a much better understanding of basic cat care and may head off many potential problems before they start. This may not be the only cat behavior book you'll want, but it's an excellent start.

I am a first time cat owner, and she and I are doing quite well together. However, she insists on scratching everything and pitches a fit when I try to trim her (sharp) claws. While this book was helpful because now I understand how to redirect her to the different types of scratchers I have put all over the house, it really didn't address cat claw trimming methods at all.

Anyone who owns a cat, this is a must read. I have had cats for years and years without realizing I really knew little about them. I currently have 5 cats, Or they have me. After reading this book from start to finish, I felt ashamed of how bad a cat parent I had been (unknowingly). I have changed my ways and I now have happier and healthier cats, And a lot less stress concerning them. Please anyone that thinks they know about cats, read this book and you will find out how much you don't know about cats. Your cats will love you for it, And you will feel really good about yourself for learning the 911 about cats

I can't recommend Cat 911 highly enough. I came across Cat 911 when I was about to bring two new kitties into our lives. This book, along with advice from the author's blog, have helped in countless practical ways.

Running away from the litter box... now I understood that he was trying to tell me something and what to do about it, and he's not afraid anymore. Not covering in the litter box... the author helped me show her how to cover. Success! One kitty was getting fat... I learned how she could drop the weight without a struggle. Using the carpeting on the steps as a scratching post as soon as I brought the kitties home... problem solved in less than a minute.

The practical advice has helped time and again with the new kitties. But it's not just for people who are new to cats. Had I come across this book earlier I believe I would have recognized that my kitty soulmate was sick before I did, and I certainly would have known better how to handle things at the end.

This book and the author's blog have been a lifesaver for me. I only wish I had found it sooner!

As the significant other for a very independant elderly cat, I have found "CAT 911" by Pamela Merritt to be a very helpful tool in understanding and caring for my furry friend. I find myself referring back to "CAT 911" time and time again as new problems arise. For the first time I am able to understand and recognize my Kitty's problem behavior as her way of letting me know something is not right in her world. By recongnizing the behavior and then following some of Ms. Merritt's simple techniques, both Kitty and I are enjoying happier times together. So whether you are a first time cat owner, or you have had cats all your life and have always wondered why they were exhibiting a particular problem behavior, this is the book for both you and your cat's peace of mind. "CAT 911" will be a great addition to your Kindle library or as a gift for another cat lover's Kindle library. I also highly recommend following Pamela Merritt's "The Way of Cats" blog for even more information on your "best friend's" behavior.
