‘Dr. Seuss ignites a child’s imagination with his mischievous characters and zany verses.’
About the Author
Theodor Suess Geisel – better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a park superintendant in Springfield, Massachussets, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children’s books, and his first book – ‘And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street’ – was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only ‘The Cat in the Hat’, published in 1957, the first of a successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books.

I bought it as I was on the Kindle version page and it said it had a very high score, almost perfect. When I opened it in my Kindle Paperwhite, it came as 2 pages in 1... impossible to read.
I have come back to the page and read the reviews. To my surprise, all reviews are mixed up... not only the Kindle version, but original movie, new movie, someone reading a book (tape recording), original books, fake books, second hand books, books with bubble gums inside or torn pages.
What is this? Reviews should be separated to correspond the product you ARE buying. So if I wish to buy the Kindle version I should ONLY see the reviews for the Kindle version and nothing else.
I will now contact customer support to get my money back. I have never been so disappointed 😔 with Amazon as last night.
Update: Thanks, Amazon, for giving me credit (refund) for this purchase! 😀👍🏽
Dr. Seuss not only invented the genre, he has never been replaced as its king. This book is one of my all-time favorites for beginning readers, only, perhaps, tied with Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham”and “Fox in Socks. “
Perfect as a read aloud for toddlers, the book is also loved by older children . What a master Dr. Seuss was! His books for older readers are also wonderful. “Cat in the Hat” is compelling, funny, big hearted and memorable. Could learning possibly be more fun?
Loved the book as a kid! As an avid reader, I always try to purchase books for baby shower or birthdays or just for ourselves. Dr. Seuss has always been a favorite of mine and I most definitely give out the most.
This book I purchased for my best friends newborn daughter and her oldest son. I also crochet so I made the kiddos a beanie to go along with it. ❤️

At first he didn't want to read The Cat In The Hat - it didn't have a monster, a tiger or a pooping dinosaur on the cover.
Thankfully papa insisted. My lad was immediately transfixed. The story has a rhythm, it has been beautifully designed to be read out aloud. It feels like it was written using a small set of fairly short words; these are then smartly combined to keep text fresh and build the rhythm.
That was about a week ago; now my son is constantly asking papa to read the Cat Hat book. What more can I say? It's a masterpiece.
Also teaches them to tidy up after themselves which my son noticed so always a positive!
We purchased this after being a fan of the grinch who stole Christmas... another good book in the series to try.
Poetic, fun to read, and a naughty cat story that puts everything right before mum comes home. A great bedtime reading choice.
