Cat the Cat is out on a walk. As she walks she meets her friends and introduces them to the reader. Towards the end of the book she runs into something that she has never seem before, a monster! She takes a chance and befriends the monster! She and her friends gain a new play mate though her action! This book is great for kids that are learning to read. It's very repetitive. It can also be used to teach kids about friendship. It could also be used to cover the character trait of tolerance, just because someone looks different from you that doesn't mean that you can't be their friend.

I bought this for my two year old daughter's birthday. She loves the Mo Willems books and illustrations and this one is a hit. Cat the cat meets up with several friends (including Duck the duck, Fish the fish, Mouse the mouse...well, you get the picture). At the end up the book, Cat meets up with someone she doesn't recognize (an absolutely adorable monster) but sees this strange creature as a potential NEW friend. Cute lesson. Simple, easy book with brightly colored illustrations. I'd guess this is most appropriate for ages 1-4. Both my kids love it!

This book is fantastic for kids who are just learning to read! My son is in Kindergarten and hates the 100 Book Challenge books he has to choose from at school so I'm always looking for something to spark his interest, is easy and will help him to enjoy reading. This book really hit all three of those! 3 of his sight works are in the title and the repetitive pattern made it so he could read most of the book to me himself. What joy was on his face as he read this fun book and as always, finding the pigeon in one of the pages is always a highlight of Mo Willems books. I highly recommend this for early readers!

We love all of Mo Willems books and this one does not disappoint. My preschool aged kids love this book and I even find my school age kids reading it every once and a while.

A great book for early readers and to read to your little ones too. Funny and cute. Additionally, there are many more books in the Cat the Cat series, so if your kiddos like this book, you can get some others for them to enjoy too.

I was looking for some board books for my daughter and discovered this book and Who Says That, Cat the Cat? This is a fun book to read. It is a short and simple book that my 20 month old daughter likes to read with me. In the book, Cat the Cat introduces you to 3 of her friends: mouse the mouse, duck the duck, and fish the fish. She then runs into a monster who becomes a new friend- we call him Blargie Blargie. There are not a lot of words and the illustrations are fun.

I can usually say that author Mo Willems' books are all my favorites: I love the pigeon, the elephant and piggy, and knuffle bunny, with all my little librarian heart! Cat the cat doesn't have the personality and humor that I (and millions of his other readers) have come to expect. But no worries: I will still choose to add every pigeon/duckling/elephant/piggy/knuffle bunny book to our school's library collection. Just keep writing them, Mo! I'll buy 'em!

My daughter is entering first grade and is starting to read simple books herself. It has been a huge challenge to find books with words simple enough for a new reader yet themes that interest a six-year-old. So many of the simple-word books are extremely babyish and geared toward infants and toddlers.

Enter Mo Willems. He gets it. Here are books that have simple words that a new reader can handle without the cutesy stories that make a mother want to jab her eyes out with a fork (I'm looking at you, Biscuit the dog). If you know the Pigeon, Knuffle Bunny, and Elephant and Piggy then you'll feel right at home with Cat the Cat and her friends.

For whatever reason these books aren't as well known as the other Mo Willems series. My local Barnes and Noble carried most of his other titles but didn't have a single Cat the Cat book--so amazon it is!

I was first introduced to Mo Willems' books at our local library, now we are fans of his books. My 18-m daughter loves this book. Now that she can say the sound of each character (cat, rat, duck, and fish), her face lights up each time a new animal shows up. Also the book is short enough for the short-attention span of toddlers. The words are simple and very easy to translate into other languages, so my husband and I read this book in our own languages (we are from two different countries).
