Cat5e should have four pair twisted wire. When I cut the cable, and found all 8 wires are not twisted. Un-Twisted cable is unstable, and is not good for long distance.

RiteAV - Cat5e Network Ethernet Cable 100ft arrived on time from seller. Quality of cable is sub standard. If you plug in the cable as is, like most people do, it should work. So what's the big deal? But I used it to install cable wiring thru the walls and so I had to cut the cable to the desire length. When reconnecting the cable, I notice the copper wire (most important part of the cable) was thin and wrapped with extra thick plastic insulation for needed support; otherwise the wire might fall apart. Also no fiberglass insulating material like other better cables, just lots of plastic to appear thicker. Because the copper was thin and the plastic was thick, connecting it to RJ45 cable plugs and wall plugs was a nightmare. No good connections as the thin copper could not make proper contact because of the extra thick plastic, so I had to trim off the plastic from each and every small wire individually for every single plug point and hope that the wire does not fall apart. Note: there are 8 small twisted wires running thru the Ethernet cable. Very disappointed and full of regrets, it was too late to turn back as I had cut the cable and fished it thru walls. Anyone reading this should consider spending a few dollars more for a better name brand cable like "Belkin".

I purchased this cable several months ago and purposefully waited to review it.

When handling this cable you can feel that it is cheaply made, as expected for the price. That being said I use this cable to span about 70 feet of outdoor area to a detached room. The wire has been exposed to a recent Blizzard (around 4 feet of snow) and we've had some wind gust have reached 60 miles an hour. I have not had a single problem and it's still working great.

I wouldn't choose it for mission critical applications but I would certainly purchase it again for household use.

2 years later and this wire is still holding strong spanning the same outdoor space.

**** January 15, 2013 ****

Coming up on 3 solid years of constant use. Exposed to the elements the entire time. Worth every penny.

The Seller will ship you this item very fast, however this Cat5E cable is used - not new. It states new but that's BS, because it shows wear from prior staples and white paint from walls. Also I feel the need to let everyone know that you truly don't know what type of cable they send u because it has no markings on it declaring it a Cat5E cable like all 100 or so I have. It may be or it may just be the older standard of Cat5, which is very irresponsible. Other than these few complaints the cable works fine and its long.

This cable is not up to Cat 5e specifications! Out of the 4 pairs inside, only 2 of them are twisted (barely). Proper TIA/EIA-568 color coding is not used. The wires aren't copper-- they're tin and it is of very high wire gauge.

You're lucky to get Fast Ethernet (100mbps) speeds on this cable. Don't even expect Gigabit (1000mbps) speeds on this quality of cable.

This cable will FAIL a network cable test for a standard Cat 5e cable using a FLUKE Network DTX-1800 cable analyzer. It has Crosstalk values of over 30 dB of a properly certified Cat 5e cable.

BUYER BEWARE!

This is not Cat 5 cable. The pairs are not twisted. This is just 6 cheap wires running through some cheap insulation with some nice RJ45 modular jacks on each end. I consider this fraud!

I ordered these cables to connect to my Linksys E2000. The router lights were still blue indicating these cables did not support Gigabit Ethernet. I can only get transfer speeds of 10 MB/s. I switched with a cable my friend had, and when I replaced the cable, the router light turned green- showing Gigabit speed. Even though the cables were cheap, don't buy these cables if you are looking for Gigabit Ethernet speeds.

I ordered 100 ft of Cat5e ethernet cable from CMPLE. It arrived quickly. I tried the cable initially upon purchase with a laptop 5 feet from the router with no problems. However, after connecting the cable down through a 3/4 inch hole in the floor and back up the floor 75 feet away from the router, the cable no longer functioned. I checked with Linksys to confirm the cable was the problem. It had just worked prior to extending it across the house. The heads look very fragile and I suspect that's problem. There was some fraying of the copper leads on the heads. Too cheap for normal use.

I would upgrade to a Cat6! Don't make the mistake I made.
