"If you're a fan of Cussler, Rollins, A.G. Riddle, Dan Brown and Michael Grumley and others in the science-adventure thriller field, then this action-packed thriller is a must read." Neil Gregory WPM - Avid thriller reader.
"This novel is, in my opinion, a good action adventure story involving a search for an ancient artifact with competing international interests, including terrorists. I feel it would make a better movie than a book" - Amazon Reviewer
From the Author
Cataclysm is a fast paced thriller covering the following themes;
* Ancient Egypt * Greek mythology * Seven Wonders of the Ancient World * Conspiracies * Ancient aliens * Ancient guardians * Ancient technology * Sphinx and Pyramids * Science fiction adventure thriller * Espionage * Terrorism
If you enjoya fast-paced conspiracy action thriller, with a mythological theme set in both ancient Egypt and modern day, with a science fiction twist, then Robert Spire's fourth adventure is for you..... Spire 5, a follow up to Cataclysm, will be out in 2017.
This is at least a 4 star book that only gets 3 stars because it bypassed the proofreader. The story itself is interesting, based on hidden passages and rooms beneath the Sphinx. The characters, both good and bad, are believable. The good guys, and gals, are quite heroic, and the bad guys, with their "different" philosophy are quite dastardly. However, typos and misused words start at the very beginning, and seriously detract from the continuity of the story. There are rooms that are fifteen foot by fifteen feet, a one hundred eighty five feet battering ram, and, something new, the SEVERN Wonders of the Ancient World. Other typos--'of' instead of 'off', for example--are sprinkled throughout the book. Also, using rattlesnakes to dissuade intruders in Iraq is problematical. Rattlers are indigenous to the western hemisphere.
I have to say that this is a clean book. That's because the hero is always taking a shower. And we are told all about it every single time that the hero takes a shower. There is a decent thriller buried somewhere under all the words in this book. But the author needs an editor who will help him to tighten up his language. He goes into needless details, and he repeats and repeats and repeats yet again.
As a result, I ended up skimming through the book and still managed to follow the story quite well. If you're willing to ignore some unlikely coincidences, you might enjoy the adventure. There is promised here if only the author can learn to control his excessive use of words.
Good read. However, lots of typos that detract from the reading. Also, having problems with all of Simon's books. I finish reading and proceed to try to review them via the Kindle and I get an error message that an error has occurred. If you have purchased this book from Amazon, delete it from the device and download again from the cloud. However, when I download from the cloud again, the same error message occurs. With some editing (and it could be the typesetters as few people will send in a book without editing) and fixing the computer glitches, Rosser has bright future among thriller writers!!!!
I have read all of Simons books to date. I too am an author. So I can tell you first hand it takes a lot of research, hard work and about a year to complete a Kindle book. Simons stories are first rate. I think he has a great imagination. Great characters and I am x-military so they resonate with me. Keep them coming. Regards -- Bill MacLaughlin
Just love it. Very creative, everything fits perfectly. If there is anything I could say that cut my attention was that i felt like it supposed to be longer that what it is. I hope this book has a second part because the end gives a chance to continue with the story and to contemplate including other wonders of the world. GREAT WORK!!. This book is a master piece.
I purchased this book on Amazon because I saw it when perusing other authors; I liked the summary and then I could not put it down. Of course I got the other 3, already reading the second one and I am a FAN of Simon Rosser's Robert Spire. Great writing, great adventures, normal people. Thank you, Sy Rosser! Waiting for more of your books...
