I can't help but feel that some of the melodrama built into the story was a bit over the top, but I suppose that is what is required to turn it from a bland list of facts to a compelling read. The way in which Marianne Thamm ties all the sub plots; political, economic and criminal together, helps make the headlines of the last ten years or so in South Africa, more understandable.
It's a cover to cover read for a time when you are not going to be interrupted by other activities.
