About the Author

I love to read. Always have, always will. My favorite genre is romance, but I also enjoy thrillers, mysteries, some sci-fi, rock n' roll biographies and autobiographies. I'm obsessed with music. OBSESSED. I'm very partial to rock music, but I also enjoy rap, country, classical, oldies and pop. I could go on "Don't Forget The Lyrics" and clean up! My two favorite bands of all time are Fleetwood Mac & The Foo Fighters, followed VERY closely by Social Distortion, Alice in Chains, Jerry Cantrell, The Eagles, Blondie, Heart, Tori Amos, Pearl Jam, U2, The Cure, Garbage, The Goo Goo Dolls, Duran Duran, The Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode, Elton John, The Misfits and Metallica. Clearly, I've got eclectic taste. If you got a look at my iTunes library you would die laughing. I live for the GREASE soundtrack and can sing the hell out of any Guns n' Roses song. I'm a total practical joker. I love to laugh. My favorite TV shows and movies tend to be comedies but I absolutely love Twin Peaks, Lost and Dark Shadows. I have a soft spot for eighties music. If I could hang out with any celebrity for one day, I'd choose Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters. My celebrity crush is (currently) Ian Sommerhalder. I think he's adorable.

I really really really loved this book! Ella Fox is an instant-buy kind of author for me, and her newest book does NOT disappoint! Ella has the amazing ability to draw readers in and not let them go until the very in. I absolutely loved the characters in Catch My Fall---primary and secondary alike. Tristan was absolutely amazing. It's so refreshing to get a strong SEXY male lead that, while he has a questionable past with the ladies (cough cough "Malore"), once he meets "his girl" is loyal to the end (fans of no cheating rejoice!). His journal and notes to Mia made me swoon. Mia is strong in her own right as well. She is a great friend and daughter. Together, they are everything I want to read about in a book! In classic Fox style, the plot has great twists and turns-keeping you turning pages until the very end. I can not wait for the second book of the series. The little surprise in the epilogue has my mind going a mile a minute (no worries--the surprise is not really a cliffhanger just a sneak peak at what I'm guessing is a possible plot for the next book). Excited to read more about Tristan, Mia, Trace, and Darby! Thanks for another great read Ella!

Mia Reeves is a Freshman at a small college. She is still recovering from a major horrible 'incident' (as she refers to it) that has made her fearful of men, parties and relationships. It's fairly easy to guess what happened, but when the details are described in Mia's nightmares - you are astounded at how awful her 'incident' truly was.
Tristan Chamberlain is a sophomore that has garnered a reputation as a total man-whore on campus. He is gorgeous, sexy and charismatic. Dangerous.
He sets his sights immediately on Mia and the chase begins.
Mia's roommate, Darby, is a childhood friend of Tristan's. So Mia cannot avoid running into Tristan.

There is a side story with Darby that has interesting plot twists (small ones, but interesting).

Mia is a strong, independent woman that has survived a very earth shattering event. I admired her fortitude, dedication to her friends, mother, step-dad, etc.
Not only has Mia suffered a mind-numbing horrific incident, but her biological father never loved her.

Tristan also has a broken past that later comes out to Mia.
Mia's reaction is beautiful.
I just finished reading another book where the heroine constantly wanted to run away. First reaction. Run. Hide.
But Mia's reaction is fantastic. She kicks butt. She doesn't run - she takes action.
Love this character. This girl has been through hell and back - and she is strong enough to help carry Tristan (just for a few hours) in the relationship and bring him back to her.

Tristan is a dream. He understands that Mia is completely nervous and needs to go slow.
He goes slowly.
Lots of sexual tension.
Sex is not a big part of this book. In fact I think there is two sex scenes? Steamy yes.

While I applaud the author for bringing more awareness to sexual assault, I just had sooooo many problems with this book. Here are the main ones:

1) The nicknames Stan (made me think of Dorothy's ex-husband on Golden Girls) and Mimi (made me think of the crazy makeup lady from The Drew Carey Show) were awful.

2) The slut-shaming. I guess it's ok for guys to be manwhores (because they have a heart of gold, of course), but not girls. They're just horrible tramps with no redeeming qualities. Plus, Tristan was the least believable manwhore ever.

3) Two of the most overused plot point in NA books: the manwhore and the virgin, and the "you're too good for me" guy. I'm beyond tired of these story lines.

4) The characters were constantly having these long, drawn-out monologues where they were over explaining everything. That's the kind of thing that makes me start skimming. On top of that, Tristan and Mia's conversations were just too cheesy and unbelievable.

5) Mia's father started out as a jerk, but by the end he was an over the top cartoon villain.

I could list more, but I don't want to pile on.

4.5 stars, loved Tristan & Mia! Mia has a troubled past, a mother who got pregnant in high school & a dad who was forced to get married. Her father is a bastard & he raised a terrible step-son who torments Mia & her best friend Macy. Poor Macy is so mentally & physically abused by this boy that she lands in a mental hospital! Mia is a freshman at a small college in order to be close to Macy while she's in treatment. Mia lucks out with an awesome roommate, Darby, who grew up with twin brothers Trace & Tristan. Tristan is in one of Mia's classes & they immediately become friends. After everything she's been through the last thing she wants is anything physical with a man, luckily remaining a virgin which saved her from all of the horrors that Macy had to go through. Tristan sleeps with any girl he can but doesn't form any real connections. This whole book is about their parents & if they will be able to get away from their childhoods & if their awful parents have instilled some kind of permanent damage & will they be able to move forward as normal adults with normal families & healthy dreams for the future. Tristan's childhood sounds terrible & Mia doesn't quite believe that he wants to be with her until Tristan shows her his journal which was my favorite part. He wrote about meeting Mia and knowing that she was different & just loving spending time with her. Mia won't give up on Tristan & helps him see what a wonderful man he really is. In the end they are able to create a new kind of family with Tristan & Trace, Darby, Macy, and Mia's mother & new husband & baby. Tristan actually saves Mia's life by showing her some defensive moves that save her from her father. Mia isn't used to a physical connection but I love how she is tempted by Tristan & lets him love her, showing him what it really feels like to have sex with someone who truly cares for every part of him! Loved this story & can't wait to read about Darby & Trace!
