Catch Me When I Fall is yet another novel which stands out in the aspect of 'good premise, bad execution'. Never before have I wanted to love an ARC so much but just couldn't. The premise of this book is something I had never heard before. After reading the synopsis I was all set to go on an amazing adventure I would never forget. It was original and therefore caught my attention in an instant. However, the originality was only to be seen in the beginning of the book, because all the rest was something I'd seen countless times before.
To discuss the premise of this book, you can't but agree that the idea behind it is absolutely brilliant. Seven billion people having two Protectors watching over them isn't all too realistic if you ask me, yet the idea of creating something more out of the guardian angel legend is amazing. Leigh did what few authors couldn’t do and managed to build an intriguing world around that particular idea. I loved the world building despite several info dumps. I loved the combination of a Guardian Angel with dreams and nightmares. I haven’t read anything like this before and I absolutely loved it. This was what made me want to read this book so desperately. I think you can guess by now how big of a disappointment this turned out to be.
The romance took over the entire book so much that in the end I felt like I was drowning in it. It all started with a case of young teen love where all of the sudden the insta-love escalated into an eternal romance. The worst part about this is that their romance is entirely based on appearances considering the insta-love. It still surprises me how fast this transition went.Read more ›
Daniel Graham died to be a Protector of the Night to guard the living from their nightmares. For decades, he's been a Protector invisible from the ones he's protecting. Now assigned to Kayla Bartlett, a sixteen year old psychiatric ward patient is harder than he imagined. Nightmares love the troubled past victims and there's something about Kayla that's not adding up. So when Daniel breaks the number one rule and introduces himself to Kayla they whisk off to Rome for answers. Out of nowhere, Kayla gets kidnapped and its up to Daniel to find her no matter the cost.
First of all, this cover is Gorgeous and relates to the plot extremely well. I came across this book from a Goodreads Listopia and fell in love with the cover. I know, I know "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I can't help it. I read the synopsis and found out that the author was from my hometown so I knew I had to give this a go.
I didnt love this, I didnt hate it. Overall, this was meh. The main issue was the love interest aspect. The romance is just extra insta, insta-love which makes it hard to bypass to believe and enjoy the plot. Daniel literally falls for Kayla in ten seconds flat. There were times where Daniel was too feminine and I thought we were in Kayla's head.
Also, the plot seemed very predictable. At times, it was but there were a few instances were I was caught off guard and I liked the new direction.
Kayla was my favorite character. She was demanding but had the right to be. She didnt fall for Daniel as quickly as he did for her. And even though she wasnt able to protect herself well, she didnt give up.Read more ›

I liked the idea of this story, but I like stronger female characters. Kayla seemed to cry every few pages.Published 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
Catch Me When I Fall was a pretty awesome read! Not your normal fantasy/paranormal story which I enjoyed. This book included wraiths, nightmares, protectors, warlocks and witches. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Nay Denise
This was listed as teen fiction, so I picked it up to see if my daughter would like it. Sex and curse words took this off the list of something I would let my kids read. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Tish
