Back in Azalea Valley, the McLemore family is preparing for the double wedding of two other siblings, Brenner to Garrett, and Blake to Krystan. Readers might remember them from Rhythm in Blue and Blue Skies of Summer, the second and third novels in Malory’s series. Benjamin joins them for the big wedding and happily reconnects with Michelle, but all is not destined to be easy for either of them. Old and new horrors, the tests of a lifetime, must be dealt with by both lovers. We have to wonder if their bond is strong enough to make it this time.
Following the McLemore family in Azalea Valley is like spending time with old friends for those of us who love the series. It’s a happy place to be, and that counts for a lot. Malory truly hits it out of the park!
Benjamin, ace-pitcher in the MLB, meets Michelle and her sisters on a cruise. They hit it off when they figure out they are both from Azalea Valley. Their attraction is obvious but neither is in a position to start a relationship at that moment. Things change dramatically they are both back in Azalea Valley, but there are miscommunications and set backs along the way. There are multiple physical and emotional set backs as well as some interesting plot twists that add to the drama. Ms. Malory has a knack for adding in some realistic drama to each of her romances that bring more depth to her stories.
I’ve really enjoyed following the McLemore family in this series, and Catching a Curveball is a particularly good installment. I love baseball, and I love the idea of the vacation attraction (it wasn’t really a fling) turning into the romance of a lifetime.
