Of course the relationship had the potential to go nowhere due to the fact that Liam's going to go home once he's done with college. There was also clearly something going on with Jillian and I was dying to find out what it was, although the clues indicated it wasn't going to be good.
I absolutely hated Jillian's mother. That woman would stress anyone out.
Overall though, I enjoyed the story, despite it ending without a clear answer as to whether their relationship would continue once Liam returned to Scotland.
I'm going to start of saying I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! This was such a great story about someone over coming something they think will take over their lives. Jillian finds out at an early age that her life will never be what she wanted/expected for it to be. She tries to hide from people and never gets close to anyone until Liam. This was such a wonderful love story showing that there are still people out there who are willing to fight for someone they love, no matter what is expected for the future. To often now a days you see couples split because one of them doesn't want to deal with any of the hardship. While reading this book, I did have tears in my eyes at some points, Jills really didn't have it easy (especially with her mother) but I was so glad that Liam tried so hard to get her to trust him. It also helps that Liam is supposed to be this absolutely gorgeous Scot! I will be telling my friends they need to read this book, and this is going on my "to be read again" pile as well!
if you read this book, you'll understand why I wrote my review this way ;)
1. Liam McAvoy. (*gives you a duh look* this is like, a given)
He had me at the waffles. Seriously. Any boy who could make me waffles and cook me spaghetti.. well maybe just Liam.. I want him. There is nothing wrong with this boy because he was sweet, caring, thoughtful, and sexy. He has a Scottish accent (please cure the swooning) and he never gave up on Jillian. He respected her, encouraged her, and loved her. He freaking sang a Taylor Swift song and eats chocolate covered raisins! Liam is the guy of my dreams!
2. Jillian, my fierce Wednesday night boy catcher .
I adored Jills because she was independent and she had bite. She did what she wanted to do. She stood up to her overbearing mother and she didn't need a guy to make her whole. Though sometimes frustrating, I understood Jillian's hesitation and troubled emotions. It was great that she realized it was ok to need someone. She was lost, but was able to find herself along the way.
3. Romance as sweet as sugar <3
Jillian and Liam were so so adorable! I totally loved that their one night stand became something more and that this time around the boy was the relationship type of guy trying to catch a girl who wasn't. They get to know one another and fall in love. It was just so so cute! Jillian and Liam and amazing chemistry and just enough steam.
4. The was plot was refreshing.
I think the romance was the main drive of the book and I enjoyed that part very much, but I loved the added element of what Jillian was going through. It was a different twist that I learned more about. It gave me more insight on the subject. Catching Liam wasn't predictable per se, but it wasn't so shocking plot wise. However, it was delightful.
5. Sophia's writing was crisp, coherent and just lovely.
It had a readable simplicity that I admired and a flow that was nicely done. Bleu brought in subtle amounts of humor into the book that gave her writing and her characters personality. She really gave Jillian a voice and brought her character along with Liam's to life.
6. Friendship between Jillian, Jess and Cassie.
I like that though they had guys in their life, they still made plans to hang out with each other. There was no petty jealousy or arguments. It was a wonderful friendship/dynamic. We get to know Jess and Cassie's characters to get a feel of them and anticipate a story of their own.
7. College life, it exists!
Catching Liam actually has some class interaction. Yes, it wasn't prominent, but it was there. Jillian actually worried about her class and her GPA. I got a feel of a college setting, though small. I liked that.
8. The End
I'm not usually a fan of endings that are not solid, but I make CL an exception. Why? Because it was perfect for Liam and Jillian. It was right in that it was open enough to allow myself to conjure up their future relationship on my own while still keeping me relatively content and satisfied by their ending.
9. These lines...
"Making a beautiful woman breakfast after a night of debauchery is the definition of polite."
"I have a high proficiency in moan-inducing."
"We call them kilts, and we wear them so we can let our enormous cocks breathe."
"It took me awhile to catch you. I'd like to keep you now."
10. Overall -
Catching Liam was such an easy, sweet and swoontastic read! I totally fell in love with it. The loss of sleep was just a minor side effect of this awesome book and so worth it. It was that compelling and that addicting. Sophia Bleu, I want more!
Liam can't help but pursue Jillian no matter how indifferent she acts to his charms. Liam feels Intrigued when it comes to our closed-off gal, Luckily a coincidental college class together pairs up the two as partners in order to pass the class. Liam goes to many lengths to get to know her in every way imaginable and let's just say when Jillian relents these two together are Hot, Bright, Smoking Fireworks!!! Before you know it Liam & Jillian come to care deeply for each other but is anything ever Simple?!?! Nah of course not and alas there are two Heavy Wrenches thrown into the fold... One is Liam is on a student visa and must return home to Scotland in June and the other is???
Jillian is hiding something Big and she doesn't Trust Liam to not leave or look at her in a different light. This story is FUN, Cute, Funny, and Steamy but there are some Sad & Touching parts as well.
What do you think is Jill's Secret? What does the Future hold for these two Insatiable & Stubborn people? I tell you what Buy a Copy like Right Now... Besides Everyone Needs a Sexy Scot in our Lives. :)
You Won't Regret it!!!!!!!!!!!
