But these are my new workboots.
I usually buy men's boots because properly-sized women's boots do not leave enough room for my Spenco 2/3 orthotic. (I have high arches and need the support.) the positive reviews these boots have gotten made me feel like taking a chance, and I'm glad I did. I can certainly wear these without my insert, but, unlike most women's boots, they are just as comfortable with them. Yay Caterpillar boots!
In other news, they are comfortable right out of the box, with sturdy leather, sole, grommets and stitching. They also have lots of cush in the footbed, which is not always the case in a work boot. The chestnut color is attractive, and running the laces down to the toe not only makes them accomodating to wide and narrow feet, it also makes your feet look smaller (as opposed the the clown shoe look of many work boots).
In short, they are sturdy enough (both sole and leather) to offer protection and stability, comfortable enough to handle a long day on your feet, adjustable enough to handle somewhat wider or narrower feet, and attractive enough to wear just because. (FYI: These do not have a steel toe or shank, but they are substantial enough to offer good protection in most conditions.)
A few days ago I didn't even know Caterpillar made boots!
Update: I bought these in September. It's now April and they are still great. They became much more comfortable after about a week or two of breaking in. I can spend all day working in the yard or moving supplies and my feet still feel good at the end of it all. The leather has gotten a few scuffs, but has held up perfectly. I tried to chop off my toe with a misplaced shovel, but the boots protected me and barely showed a scuff! I still highly recommend this boot!
I love them! Wish the steal toe version was easier to find. I love the low lacing, also very hard to find this feature in tie up boots/shoes.
I have narrow feet, their width is perfect for me with thin or thick socks. Might be too narrow for those with wide feet. No arch support but because they are roomy enough, an additional arched insole solves my problem.
The sole is wonderful: grippy and springy and absorbing of bumps and irregularities underfoot. The leather is nice and any scratches come out easily with a bit of leather conditioner. There's not a lot of arch support but I would think that innersoles would fix that. The shoelaces are best done in a double bow because that type always comes undone.
I'm very happy with these, especially for the price, plus even my daughter thinks they look good! I wear them with jeans as an every day shoe as I'm on my feet most of the day.
I can see women using this shoe for travel, gardening, working around the horses, and of course on the construction site. Go women who get their hands dirty!
