Product Description
Combining contemporary shapes with stylish patterns, the Catit Style Cat Scratch Board, Cat Bench is a modern twist on conventional cat scratchers. The cat scratcher cardboard provides your cat with a corrugated scratching surface and provides a new place for your cat to scratch instead of your furniture. A cat's need to cat scratch is instinctive and is important for cats health; it helps them to sharpen and remove the dead outer layer of their claws, stretch and flex their bodies and work off energy. Catit is focused on creating cat enrichment toys and activities for all cats especially indoor cats. Cat toys for indoor cats should encourage a cat’s natural foraging and hunting behaviors. The Catit product lines have created a wide variety of cat toys with this in mind. To complete your cat supplies pair this item with some of the other Catit products including cat trees, cat brushes, cat beds, cat towers, cat litter, cat food, cat water fountains, cat treats and more.

As long as the scratchers are nearby, my darlings spare the furniture and go to town on these instead.
Being able to recycle the whole thing when they've scratched through it is a bonus.
Now keep in mind that I don't just keep one scratching post in the house. To the contrary, I have at least one in every room of the house (I just counted nine in my head, but that may be off). My strategy for dealing with adolescent cats/kittens is to place a scratching post or pad in any place that I see them scratching up something I don't want them to scratch up. That strategy, along with a deterrent spray, will work after a while.
I have another cat named Lucky who is far more gentle. He also has much larger claws. With opposable thumbs. When he reaches out his claws, it reminds me of that claw game where you can get a free hat. While he is very, very good at keeping his claws retracted, he sometimes needs to exercise them. Therefore, he also does a number on the scratching posts and pads that I bring home even if he uses them far less often.
I like these scratching pads because they are inexpensive, and that makes them extremely replaceable when my cats inevitably destroy them. They are also surprisingly durable. The original one I bout about three years ago is still in my home, though I think it's days are now numbered. I see Azrael on it all the time. The problem is that, after three years of use, a small hole has developed. I decided that the hole posed an injury risk to a cat walking on it, so it needed to be replaced. I bought two more.
The positives far outweigh the negatives here. Since I've already outlined the positive, I'll mention the negatives as well.
The corrugated cardboard is not a barrier of any kind. In other words, if you sprinkle catnip on it, the catnip will fall right through to the floor. I found that when I do this, my cats will try to move the pad out of the way to get at the catnip. I personally don't even understand why they even include catnip. If you have cats, you should probably have some catnip somewhere in the house as well.
This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well.
I now have four of these (one of which is going in the trash due to its three years of abuse). I use them specifically in rooms and areas that don't have carpet. That makes the mess easy to clean up. For the rooms with carpet, I opt for a different option. I have two remaining scratching pads in my home that I will probably replace with these once they wear out.
Like any cat, my cat initially ignored this scratcher for the large box it came in ($6 for this an a large box for him to play in is a deal in my book), but the next day he climbed on top and started scratching away. Then, he realize this was way better for lounging in, so every morning he has been sitting/laying in this bench waiting for me to wake up and feed him. I keep this near my bed in a spot where he can easily watch me, and it makes my mornings that the first thing I see upon waking up is my chubby, grumpy looking cat lounging on a little cat bench.
In short, this might not make the best cat scratcher due to the awkward shape, but it does make for a cute photo op and was worth every cent. The baggie of catnip that came with this wasn't sealed properly though and exploded all over my apartment.
I included some photos of my cat using this scratcher because my favorite reviews of cat toys on Amazon are the ones with photos.

I have 6 cats and we use these corrugated cardboard scratchers to keep them from scratching the furniture. When I saw the price of this one, I was skeptical because they are usually much more expensive but I ordered 2 anyway. I was very impressed when they arrived. It is a lounger style although a very large cat will hang off since it's only 19 1/2" long and not super wide. It also comes with a small packet of catnip. You sprinkle the catnip onto the scratcher to entice your cat and it does work. My cats took to it immediately. You can also turn it over when your cat destroys one side so you really get twice the use.
Yes, some the catnip will fall through the scratcher onto the floor and yes, you may have to sweep it up if your cat doesn't roll around in it and eat it but it really doesn't seem like a problem to me. You will also have to sweep up tiny bits of cardboard as the scratch away on it. It's still better than having my cats scratch up my couch or chair.
We go through these frequently with 6 cats so I am thrilled to find this brand. At only about $7 each, they are a bargain.

This is great, I thoroughly enjoy scratching this, and yes sometimes bits of cardboard come off and need to be hoovered up. This is my second one, the first lasted nearly a year as once I finished on one side it was turned over and I could start all over again. Meeeoooow!

Well....this lightweight cardboard clawing board is it! The one thing saving my sofa! Both of my cats love to claw it, sit on it, sleep on it....most importantly they love to claw it! Absolutely brilliant and a lot cheaper than the clawing posts etc I have bought in the past. I actually bought a second board to avoid hissy fits - one per cat (they'd like more than one each but I have my limits.)
The board does get clawed to bits but can be turned over to double its life. The bits I mentioned do go all over the place but are easy to sweep off a hard floor or vacuum/"push me, pull me" clean off a rug or carpet and I'd rather clean up these little bits of cardboard than watch my poor sofa suffer.
All in all a great purchase - well worth a try if you'd like to try entertaining your cats claws with something other than your furniture!
Edit to add - I never used the catnip, the cats loved this without any extra encouragement.

Got this to stop my cat plucking heck out of my rug every night after I'd gone to bed. He absolutely loves it, as does one of his 2 siblings, BUT....after 3 weeks it's pretty much missing 2cm from the central section as it's been extensively used, and the cardboardy debris is all over my rug now.
So they do love it, but it's not especially robust and won't last more than a couple of months in total. As well as plucking it, they also enjoy sitting and sleeping on it, so apart from its short lifespan it's been a hit already. My vet practice's nurse said to me that cats are often either vertical or horizontal scratchers, but my cat that would normally have scratched on an old sisal reed-based laundry basket is also using this scratcher preferentially.
I basically got this as a proof-of-concept, having read a lot of unfavourable reviews, to see if my cats would take to it before buying Their Majesties something sturdier, and it has fulfilled that purpose. Once it's shredded down to nothing I'll now get them something beefier with the same or similar design.
