Caught Between the Bettys Paperback – October 12, 2015
"Caught Between the Bettys tells of courageous women - female rebels who wore pearls in the 1940s, 50s and 60s - and the culture and changes introduced by two very different cultural icons: Betty Crocker and Betty Friedan ... the story of how Borodkin became socially and politically aware in an era of homemakers and male power is actually an account of how she 'made her own history.' ... As such, it's an evocative, highly recommended pick for any woman who wants insights on the process of self-realization and change." Diane Donovan
About the Author
Alice Borodkin's past struggle to be validated for who she was during the rise of feminism sets an example and life lesson for younger women today. Learning to fly and earning her pilot's license opened the door she flew through to become successful in business and marketing, both primarily men's jobs at that time. She went on to serve as a Colorado State Legislator for eight years. In that position she took a firm stand on numerous women's issues.

As I read her many descriptions of cooking in the book, I kept describing my experience of reading the book to myself as “delicious.”
In this delightful and enlightening memoir Alice Borodkin allows us to savor the difference between what some refer to as the “good old days” and the lives we so blithely take for granted now. It’s especially useful as a way for younger women to understand how far their mothers and grandmothers have traveled to create today’s world.
Full disclosure: I frequently wrote articles that Alice published in the “Women’s Business Chronicle” and we have been communicating occasionally for the past 15 years.
