I dove straight into the chapter about intentional corruption of text. There the author talks about the fact that the Apostles mentioned heretics who had infected some churchs, and a major heresy common to almost all of them was their denial of Jesus' divinity. And he explains that all of the manuscripts where the mention Jesus's divinity has been altered also contradict each other in some way, and so they should be discarded.
It interesting that this book was authored in the late 19th century, but the same battle continues to this day, with new translations of the Bible being published by committees who chose corrupted manuscripts as their source.
