The going rate for 4 oz to 2 oz bottle of Cayenne extract is $5-10/ oz depending on the strength. What caused me to purchase this was the volume and price and $5 oz. I'm a big believer a habanero pepper a day keeps the doctor away.
Hard to say how effective this is product is. The say the Herb strength is 1 to 1, that is the Cayenne extract is not concentrated or diluted, and they tell you the bottle is 30 % organic alcohol , and water but don't tell you the water volume is.
You can't really tell how much Capsicum you're getting with each drop. I took the recommended upper dose of 20 drops in water and it was not that hot. Its probably buffered by the Alcohol.
But you go by the heat your body feels, and a small thai pepper is going to deliver more heat at a much lower cost than 20 drops. Tabasco sauce maybe cheaper and a better product with more heat per drop
Recent studies so capsicum the active ingredient can cause apostatis (death) in a variety of cancer cells as well as potentially inhibit and prevent cancer and it improves circulation.
I gave it the strength test of putting a drop on tongue and it was not that hot all. I then compared it to the drop of Tabasco sauce and the Tabasco was stronger but the heat buzz did not last as long.
This dilute enough you can get it into your blood system by placing a drop under your tongue.
I'm going to try the doctor Christophers brand after this bottle is gone, at least until they fix the labeling to tell you how much capsicum you're getting per ml or drop and I can compare it.
This does give you a nice pain free buzz and feeling of well being without the pain. So maybe that is how they formulated it.
If you're looking for maximum heat per dollar this is probably not it. But its a nice product for beginners in the 'heat' is health game.
The five star review is a bit misleading on this product.
I bought this to ad to my detox drinks instead of using cayenne powder. The taste is different, not as good as the powder but the "hot" factor is the same. I will not be buying it again, I will stick to the powder even though it does not mix up as well.
I have always had good luck with Starwest products, and this liquid cayenne was no exception. It's cayenne so it's hot, which I like and also happens to be beneficial internally, according to all authorities. I drink water with some lime juice, stevia and cayenne, which is said to be a "master cleanse," and for me is a good way to drink enough water throughout the day.
