I'm not a hunter (I think these binoculars would be great for hunting though) but I do like to birdwatch and watch sports and these are the best binoculars I've ever had.

They are 8 power and the view is crystal clear, with very wide field of focus and also the ability to look at objects close up (6.5feet).

I love that they are lightweight - 23.1 ounces; are fully waterproof and because of being nitrogen purged are fogproof too. I've had problems in the past with cheaper binoculars fogging up on me.

Even though the blurb and the box say they are army green, they are so dark they are almost black in color.

They come with a premium back-ventilated harness to keep the weight from hanging from your neck and instead, being distributed to your shoulders and back.

They come with a nice wide neckstrap if you do want to use that and a very nice black carrying case with a front pocket and with a detachable shoulder strap and also with an area on the back that can be threaded on your belt. They also come with lens caps, and lens cloth. They say they come with a rainguard but I didn't find it.

The angular field of view is 8.1°. The linear field of view (at 1,000 yards) is 426 feet. The eye relief is 17mm. The lenses are fully multi-coated. There are a lot more specs that I don't understand but I just know these are the easiest to focus and use binoculars I've ever had.

The binoculars are made in China.

As an amateur astronomer I have long been aware of Celestron's history of (mostly) excellent optical equipment. As a result, when my wife and I first began birding about 20 years ago we purchased two pairs of Celestron 7 X 50 binoculars for about $50 each. That was not a totally "cheap" bino at that time. We were very happy with them and they lasted about 5 or 6 years. Various mechanical problems, mostly arising after we dropped them or handled them carelessly, finally made them difficult to use. The optical quality was always excellent. Since then we have gone through various other binoculars by many manufacturers at prices from $100 to $300. Because we do not always take the best care of our binos, we have never purchased any high end $2500 Leicas or Swarovskis.
I recently saw the need for a 10 power binocular so my aging eyes could get up a little closer to the birds. Trusting to Celestron's reputation, as well as many good experiences with their products, (and the recent rebate), I decided on these reasonably priced Celestron Trailseekers. I have already had them out a number of times and am quite happy with their performance. The field of view for a 10X binocular is excellent. So is the close focus which will allow you to focus on a bird less than about 10 feet away--as close as most birds will allow. The focuser works smoothly, the weight is about average and the general feel of the binoculars in my hand is comfortable.
As for the optical quality, these binoculars produce a bright, sharp image that shows no aberrations except possibly toward the very edge of the field--and not much even there. While they won't produce an image as nice as a $2500 pair of binos, these cost less than 1/10 as much.

The Celestron TrailSeeker 8 x 42 Binoculars produce a bright, sharp image and are easy to focus. This is Celestron's mid-range line but the quality is very good; most any birdwatcher or hunter would be very pleased with these. They would also work well for observing sports or general use. They are fairly compact and light in weight and so even can be tucked in a purse to take to the opera.

The 8 x magnification is perfect for spotting wildlife and the 6.5 foot close focus allows observation of details when near. The 42 mm objectives extend their utility into early dawn and late dusk, prime times for birdwatching and hunting. The field of vision is also surprisingly wide at 8.1 degrees.

The 17 mm long eye relief and twist-up eyecups make them very adaptable to most people's vision. The prisms are BaK4 glass; all optics are fully-coated. Contrast and resolution are very good.

The waterproof case is made of magnesium alloy for strength and light weight and is nitrogen-filled to resist fogging; it will attach to a tripod. Strap, harness, case, and cleaning cloth are all included. There is a generous warranty on materials and workmanship.

I think these would be pleasing to most people, IF you happen to get a good pair. Mine arrived defective and unusable, with the center hinge frozen in place and the barrels stuck impossibly far apart. These are made in China, and a gross defect like that tells me no one with any competence inspects them after they leave the Chinese factory assembly line. Amazon was great with the return, and my credit card had its refund soon after they shipped out via UPS. But what if a pair was just mediocre, with dirt specks on the inside, loose parts, or just put together so a lot of chromatic aberration showed? These are examples of what I've read in reviews of this item elsewhere, or seen myself on the less expensive Celestron items. There's no attempt at quality control, so look them over carefully.
I bought these thinking they might be clearer or brighter than my Sightron Blue Sky 8x32 bins, also available on Amazon, and for a little less. Before returning the Celestrons I tried to make a comparison, and perhaps it wasn't fair, since I could only look through one barrel of the Celestrons at a time. On a cloudy day, the two binoculars seemed equally bright. In reading fine print across a rather dark room, I found the Sightrons slightly clearer. The Celestrons come with better accessories, but the handling to me gave a huge advantage to the Sightrons. The Celestrons are much heavier, though average for an 8x42 binocular. The Sightrons are sleek and light, with an open bridge design that allows you to wrap your fingers around a barrel and hold them easily in one hand. I knew that I would always choose to use the Sightrons, so I did not ask for a replacement for the Celestrons.
I do want to say the Celestron Trailseekers are a pretty good value for those who like a somewhat bulky binocular. Worth 4 stars if you get a good one, but really inspect them carefully because of Celestron's poor quality control.
