I saw the live Heritage show three times last fall. This is by far the most diverse set they have done--it is a wonderful showcase for each of the members' unique talents and vocal styles. Ensemble numbers are what you have come to expect from the group with a bit of added flair. And, oh, the DANCING! Well, they do try...
The DVD is the same material that was featured in the live show, so all I can recommend is to ORDER IT NOW. I still sing "Whiskey in the Jar" in my head all these months later--Keith and Neil really rock the house. George finally gets to sing a Scottish song (Skye Boat), Paul's "Red, Red Rose" will make you cry. Damian is just as cute as always, and his duet with Paul is sweet. Ryan is just Ryan--watch his magic with the lights in "Black Is"
New band members, new instruments are delightful. I still say they could play a board game and still produce great music. BUY THIS.

I personally have not seen the DVD but I did attend a live show and I was in a daze! They sang every song so beautifully and simply amazed me. I have been a Celtic Thunder fan since 2007 and not once have they dissapointed me! I have every DVD and every CD so far but after seeing the concert and hearing the music on this DVD, I would have to say is my favorite thing they are coming out with.

Thunderhead!

It's here!! It's here!! It actually felt like Christmas as I sat down last night to watch "Heritage". This is even better than I remembered and the guys' interactions are so much better than you could see from the audience. The only "downer" came when I opened the CD and learned that Paul Byrom will be leaving CT and has been replaced by Emmet Cahill - more about that in my CD review. Seriously, this DVD gets better and better - you just want to sing and clap your hands on Home From the Sea and A Place in the Choir. As a finale, it's hard to top Ireland's Call, but "Place" is so jolly and fun that it literally lifts you up - especially when Damian takes over with what Phil Coulter calls his "dark brown voice!" Neil's "Noreen" is hauntingly beautiful - and I'm so glad he shaved off that chin hair/goatee or whatever it was. The band's "Belfast Polka" is so jolly it makes you want to dance in the aisles, and they all look as though they're having a whale of a time - it just shows in their expressions and in the amazing number of instruments they use.

When I first wrote this, it was based on what they performed in concert. While I wasn't by any means disappointed in the concert, seeing it on DVD is even better because you literally have a front-row seat for all the fun - and it's obvious that they all enjoy what they're doing. It's also nice to watch the people in the audience as the night progresses. These are the songs that reviewers pining for true Irish music have been asking for, and I assure you nobody will be disappointed. Once again, we see each of the guys doing their own thing, but it's when they get into the group music and the duets that it pulls at your heartstrings and has you tapping your toes.

I have yet to see the dvd obviously, but saw the live concert and I know that simply stated it will be AMAZING! A unique blend of voices that transport you a world away. BUY THIS DVD whether you're a Celtic Thunder fan or not, the music speaks for itself and if you're not a fan now, after seeing this dvd and hearing this music you will be.

I saw the live show in the fall, and was blown away! WOW!! It takes extreme talent to turn a folksy love song into something resembling a ghost story, and Ryan Kelly does that as only he can. George delivers a moving rendition of "The Skye Boat Song", and his and Ryan's duet is beyond description. It was nice to see Neil Byrne with another solo; his voice is simply perfect in "Noreen". Paul and Damian sound stunning together in "Just a Song at Twilight", and Paul's solo wonderfully flaunts his range. Keith Harkin's "Dutchman" is nothing particularly new from him, but beautiful nonetheless. The ensemble numbers have a completely new flair and personality than we have seen from them in the past, and the traditional songs showcase each of the singers' individual talent. Altogether, I would have to say that this performance is Celtic Thunder's best!

I was very slow to jump on the CT bandwagon after seeing just bits and pieces of their shows on TV. My initial reaction was, at 4am, this is a bit better than watching infomercials. I was motivated to buy the Heritage DVD only after seeing "The Dutchman" and I just hoped for the best regarding the rest of it. The DVD totally blew me away.
I seriously cannot recall the last time I've watched something so entertaining. I actually feel GOOD after watching this DVD. That's extremely rare.
I think "Heritage" is much better than "The Show" and "Entertainment". "The Show" was very good overall but with a few too many slow "downer" type songs for my taste. "Entertainment" had its very good moments too but much of the material was not what I like to hear from CT.
The much simpler stage set on "Heritage" is a vast improvement over previous shows. You don't need a mile-wide stage with herds of "extras" running around. CT is slopping over with talent and the smaller, simpler set allows for that to come to the forefront without all the distractions. Excessive production just dilutes and detracts from CT's performance. The better song selection and closer interaction between the performers gives "Heritage" more of an overall spirit of fun to it that makes it more enjoyable to watch as an entire show than the others.
I think CT really hit their stride with this one with a perfect blend of material and set.
Bottom line: I really like their other DVD's (I won't buy "Take Me Home" because of the "shaky cam" reviews - nothing to do with CT themselves), but...
When I put "Heritage" in the DVD player, I can put down the remote, and watch it from start to finish.
When I watch "The Show" and "Entertainment" I do hit the skip button here and there.
It's going to be very difficult for CT to top this one.
