As the title says, this is my second one within one year. The first one - the cables must have been bad. Having no extra cable to tell if it was the meter or the cables, I ordered one off of Amazon. The first one came from Harbor Freight Tools, but rather than driving one hour round trip to get it and adding the expense of gas, I decided to order one from Amazon. I received the new one, and immediately took the cables from it and hooked them up to my old one, and it works just fine. So the cables must have broke on the inside or something; I don't know. So now I have 2 of these, both of which work, and they are just as accurate as a Fluke or anything else that I have compared them to.

For the price point, I don't have anything bad to say about these. I would recommend one for anybody needing a good quality multimeter. I'd maybe keep an extra set of probes though.

If you need a multimeter to test a battery, check a power outlet, or test a diode - sure, this will work.

However, if you want to know the exact resistance of an electronic, or are using the multimeter for small electronics where even a remotely accurate measurement is desirable - forget it. The measurement fluctuates incredible amounts for no reason. I've learned over time that this tool is the kind that is worth spending good money on.

This little beauty is priceless! It is small (size of a wallet), can pop it in my pocket, and it is SO easy to use. Instructions are very clear. I use it to check the volts in my batteries I use with my solar panels. I have a charger attached to the panels and battery but I wanted to see if the charger was accurate and this little baby lets me check volts in mere seconds. Had trouble with my car and used it to check my car battery too! Our -55 degrees put quite a strain on my car battery and so I hooked it up to a recharger and could tell when the battery was fully charged. This is a must have for any "tinkerer". Oh yes, and I'm a female to boot.

Used this on my daughters science fair project. She used the volt meter to test the amperage in varying sports drinks. The volt meter did its job in getting the results that she needed to record for the project. It was hard to use at first but after some trial and error we were able to get the readings to make sense for the project. Will keep this one around for my son as he will have many more science projects after his sister. The voltmeter was well made and did come well packaged. I was expecting much more of a student model, but this does seem the real deal that can be used by adults for projects around the house.

What did I need it for? The back-light bulbs behind my stereo tuner's LCD display burnt out. The stereo is made in China, and is a Garrard from the, now defunct, Service Merchandise. Bought it in 1997 for around $70. The bad bulbs were strange, and I couldn't find anything like them on the Internet. There were two of them in series.

Checked the voltage, and discovered that the total was about 14 volts. Eventually, I found what I needed on websites for model trains and buildings.
