    As a life-long trekkie, I still learned a lot and it was fun seeing all the interviews, especially in the un-cut extras in the set. I'm glad they omitted the shabby current-generation versions, like the horrible Discovery. If you're a fan of the classic Star Treks, not the video-game like recent ones, you will enjoy this behind-the-scenes stories and history of the icons of science fiction.

    I watched this series on Amazon Prime, then decided to buy it.
    It is an "authorized" history of Star Trek (it has interviews with a lot of people involved with the franchise) and has a great deal of information (with both sides of the arguments, at times). Narrated by Gates McFadden, it explores the why's and how's behind decisions to go one direction or another, from casting to scriptwriting to how and why the TV shows and movies got made when they did.
    This series focuses on the the series from TOS to Enterprise (including The Animated Series, and why it is, in fact, canon) and the Kirk and Picard movies. The three current cable series and the JJ Abrams movies are mentioned, but only briefly, which I am thankful for, as I am not a fan of them.
    If you know someone who is a Trekker, they would enjoy this as a gift.

    Glad to finally see this on DVD. I am not a fan of streaming. Provides interviews and history of the various forms of Star Trek on screen. Just wish it was more balanced on issues. Often feels like they are "ganging up" on some of the people involved without any one to speak for the other side. And when in doubt, the documentary always for the sensational take on a topic. A little bit less flip would have been nice too.

    I have been watching Star Trek since 1966 and really enjoyed Gates McFadden's series that I didn't know about until now. However the interviews could use some work - 1st Kirstie Alley's interview might have been watchable if you could hear the host's voice - talking, talking, talking and asking questions you could not hear. The next 2 interviews - Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nicholls both had a white on black bar timer at the upper right of the screen and was there the whole interview - very distracting. These interviews were more than an hour and I couldn't abide the timers. Watch the series - really good - but turn down the sound at the beginning when NACELLE comes on - will blast out your speakers. I would like Mill Creek to fix these interviews.

    First of all Kudos to Mill Creek for a decent transfer, why this wasn't a Paramount/CBS release I don't know but it's very good. With that said there is so much packed into this, and I have only gotten to the 3rd episode! I'm a huge Lucy fan and I know most of the history but there are still facts that were new to me and it's just a joy to watch, especially with Gates McFadden narrating! You have to get this if you are a Trekkie (Excuse me, Trekker).

Any Star Trek fan will enjoy this. The discs are DVD REGION ONE so if you don’t have a way to play that region’s disc (I have an American blu ray player) you’ll be out of luck.

    Focusing primarily on the original Star trek series and its 6 movies, this documentary series is listed as unauthorized even though most of the producers, directors, writers and major cast members would appear in new interviews.
    In addition to the 11 episodes that appeared previously on a streaming service, there is also another 4.5 hours of uncut interviews with Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols and Kirstie Alley [all 3 have passed away].
    Note: the screen goes blank briefly during Alley's interview.
    The 4 discs come in a clam shell DVD case [i.e. one on top of each other] with no booklet.
