Hadn't read an Under the Eagles book in a while and was concerned that maybe the author had run out of steam insofar as the Macro/Cato story line along with all the political machinations were concerned. My concern was unwarranted.
This is a very solid yarn of Rome's struggle with the Parthians (Arsacids) along the eastern frontier of he empire. The sub plot of Cato's affair with the daughter of a Roman aristocrat was off the mark given the sharp class divisions of the ancient world (and today as well, as if those distinctions have disappeared over the millennia!), but that aside, I would highly recommend this installment in Scarrow's superb series. I'm looking forward to the next adventure.
