I didn't have a chance to try this welder until 3 months after purchase. It has not produced a bead even ONCE. My work pieces were clean, clamped securely, 20 Amp outlet power. Called the local Lincoln service: They claim it's not really a Lincoln, want nothing to do with it. Some guy servicing Century equipment reluctantly agreed to let me bring the thing in.

I called Amazon and they sent me a mailing label to return the unit. I am ordering a different welder now. Thanks Amazon, for making it right.

I purchased one of these many years ago, not from Amazon. I have used this many many times over the years for so many different things. I think this is a very entry-level welder which would be good for the DIY guy who has little experience welding. I will say that you will get frustrated at times and you will produce a TON of slag/over-weld when using this to get it to "work" for you so make sure you get an angle grinder. That said, over time as you improve and you buy high-quality wire, your welds will improve over time and you will find this compact little welder okay until you get the money to upgrade to a gas mig welder. I only use this for rough jobs when I don't care what the weld looks like and it doesn't have to be "safe". Also, the description states 18ga. metal, but this will not reliably do 18ga metal well as I had major issues with burn through. Because there are only 2 settings, high and low, you are very limited. You will do much better on material closer between 16ga or 1/16 and 11ga or 1/8th inch. This welder makes it very difficult to achieve any kind of weld pool. My preferred method of welding is TIG where you can be very clean and precise although gas mig has improved significantly and is a close second.
