Overall I would say the book is helpful and since it is able to be rented instead of purchased, is a pretty good value. If you are using this book to take your ACSM CEP exam, the practice test questions are not in the style of the actual test itself. The questions and case studies are helpful and does help refresh your memory of using formulas you will need. I did find very frequent typos and inaccurate information in this book however. I have attached photos as a reference. In he first 3 photos, the case study (picture 1) asks for you to calculate this patients fast free mass (FFM) (picture 2). Using the appropriate formula, you get the answer of 75.9 kg, which is rounded up to 76 kg (answer C). The answer key however has the answer as A. 39kg (picture 3) which is actually his fat mass and is incorrect. On the CEP practice exam question #87 (picture 4) asks for a relative contraindication to terminating a symptom-limited maximal exercise test, and the answer key has D. signs of poor perfusion listed as the answer. However this is actually an absolute indication to terminate this style of test as indicated by the ACSM Guidelines to Exercise Testing and Prescription (picture 5). Lastly, (picture 6) there is a rationale of a question that stats a resting ejection fraction of <55% is considered normal. Unless heart failure is no longer a thing, this is also incorrect. An ejection fraction of less than 50% is considered abnormal.

The case studies will help with critical thinking and knowledge application. Will help fine tune your weaker points. Practice exams will prep you for the way the test is set up, although they are a little easier. There's content review as well. You can use content throughout the book to prepare for all exams.
