I was told from the get go that getting the chacos to the right fitting would take some time and work. It took me a while to figure out the proper way to adjust the strap backwards and forwards to get to the spot where my foot fit perfectly. However, once it was done, it was indeed perfect. I've never had flip flops or sandals that fit to my foot the way that these chacos do. It just fit perfectly.
On top of that, I grew accustomed to getting them on and off easily and could slip them on at a moments notice. While at camp they were good for easy hiking as well as wearing into streams and the lake. I've worn them at the beach, the lake, the river, on trails, and in everyday use. These are amazing sandals. They are well worth the price (I'm still satisfied a year and change later). Once you get past the initial set up you are good to go. The box includes washing instructions and everything you need to fit them.
Pulling out the toe strap makes the heal loop smaller, forcing your foot further to the front and making the whole situation even worse. The heal loop is stitched to the side straps, so it is not adjustable. This is a very horrible product design for anyone with a high arch or that does not have a stick for a big toe.
I now get it, I really get it. I don't want to wear anything else now that the weather is nice. They offer great support and are very secure. I can tighten them for when I go on a hike or keep them loose to just wear around, pretty much like a more secure/comfortable flip flop. I love them.
To think of all those years I could have had a pair that were wasted...
