The entirety of this book focuses on different ways to use Byzantine. While I agree that the weave has lots of uses, I was somewhat taken aback that the entire book is byzantine-based.
I still gave the book 4 stars, because for a beginner or low-level intermediate it would be perfect. Additionally, his AR's are always SPOT-ON. I keep his books on my desk just for his AR's. I would cut 14K gold and not think twice.
The projects are lovely and interesting, and I WILL use them...I was just hoping for some of his more complicated/difficult patterns. Oh well. Maybe next book...
There are a couple "new" designs in here I've done already. Not saying I came up with them, they just aren't very different from his previously published designs so I'd done it already playing around with his other books.
The Beaded Single Link Chain and Bracelet is the single link version of the 2-link design he called the Beaded Mobius Bracelet in book 2. He even used the same beads! Remove a link and republish I guess?
The whole tripoli and triangle sections of this book (pgs 62-100) reconnects the byzantine Y-formations he taught us in the Crown Design of book 1 in different ways. The culminating wide triangle bracelet with the triple magnetic connectors was pretty cool, but I felt that whole section didn't offer anything new weave-wise but inspiration pictures.
One of the other grand finale projects, the Pentagon Necklace, is connecting 5 of the Starfish designs from book 1 and hanging them from a single chain. This is the project that made me chuckle the most, I made a necklace exactly like this after book 1 except I used Jens Pind link for the neck strap.
The Beaded Fish of book 3 are incomplete Diamond Designs as shown in book 1. Very cute and inspiring pictures with his design variations, but no new knowledge.
I wish he had gone on to explore new and different chain maille weaves in the latest book, but he is continuing a very thorough and creative exploration of byzantine weave. This is a great book if you don't have any of his other books already, but if you do, go take a look at the new projects in a store first to see if it's worth it to you to buy this one.
