Chain-L satisfies what we think are the three most important requirements of a chain lubricant: Lubrication Lubrication and Lubrication While properties like external cleanliness may seem important, the fact is that internal wear of the 112 overloaded, overworked and overlooked bearings is what destroys chains. A road cyclist, riding first-tier equipment, will typically wear a chain out in as little as 50* hours of use -- often destroying the cassette or chainrings in the process. On a high-end bike, drivetrain wear is the most expensive maintenance cost per mile. That’s why, when developing Chain-L, we approached is as a bearing-wear problem and formulated it consistent with our theory of how chains wear and how best to combat it. We then road tested with racers, messengers, shop staff and others; refining it over the span of almost a year before we began selling to the public in the fall of 2007.

By contrast, when I was using Boeshield T-9, I get to hearing the chain in the same way in about 1 week of commutes - 40-50 miles. T-9 is better suited to protecting against corrosion than as a chain lube, I think.
I have used Phil Wood Tenacious oil before that seems similar, though that seemed to attract much more filth, I'm not sure how to rank them as it's been a while
When I have long term info, I'll return to update the review, but so far I like it a lot.
Sadly, the label is now less like a Chanel one - presumably due to legal issues :(.
If you are a rider that always brushes against your chain you might not like it, it goes on wet and stays wet, for me, not a problem. As a note I do not ride in mud, water or rain anymore but I do ride dusty trails, dirt roads and streets, as with any wet lube it does collect dust, and the chain becomes visibly dirty, but the dust and dirt appears to stay on the outside of the chain parts and does not migrate into the links.
It is a little expensive up front however because a little goes a long way and I do not have to reapply it frequently a bottle of this will last me for years.
It is not the cleanest lube I've ever used but I don't have problems with it getting real dirty and it is the longest lasting lube I've ever used by far.
It really quiets the drivetrain.
I have used this lube exclusively on my new 11 speed Shimano 6800 road bike chain. So far 4500 miles on it, and the chain is just starting to show wear at the .5% on my Park chain wear tool- not bad... I will probably put on a new chain soon..
I clean & lube the chain every 250-500 miles; It usually starts to "chatter" around then to let me know.
I apply the lube sparingly to each inside roller with a Monoject 412 syringe- no waste..
Lasts a long time, still have more than 3/4 bottle left.
It is slick and sticky at the same time, so you will need to wipe off excess after your first ride, and there will be splatter on your frame after the first ride; but that is is a small price to pay for silence on the road, and knowing your chain will last.
I am not one to fuss over my bike. I do the required maintenance but that's it.
I bought ChainL because I heard it lasts, and last it does. I also wanted a lube that would quiet down my drive train.
Wow! this stuff virtually eliminates any sounds from the chain.
I followed the directions to the letter and have had no problems after many miles.
