They do an excellent job of absorbing the water, they are very soft, and are a little heavier than normal towels (not as heavy as my Pizon), but I kind of like that.
I have a couple of recommendations for using these towels:
First, you have to wash in cold water and dry them on low before you use them. These towels have a lot of lint and the dryer will catch it in the lint trap
Second, after the initial wash I don't dry them in the dryer any longer, but hang dry them.
Third, do not use any type of fabric softener (in the washer or dryer) because it breaks down the fabric which will cause them to fall apart prematurely.
UPDATE, 09MAY15: It has been almost a year since I have purchased them and I am still very satisfied with them. I have been taking care of them as I have stated above and there has been no sign of wear or falling apart and are still soft and absorbent. There are a couple of threads that stick out from the seam, but nothing that will unravel.
Attached is a picture taken May 9th, 2015 almost a year from purchase. The rest look the same.
I added the photos to show the difference in tags. The towels from Soft Touch Linens have a tag labelled Chakir Linens and say Made in Turkey. The ones I received from Omni Linens are labelled QTees Oasis and say Made in Pakistan. Big difference in quality.
First, my initial purchase was from a third party (OMNI Linens), who sent counterfeit towels of significantly inferior quality. After contacting Chakir Turkish to inform them that there was a seller selling counterfeit items on their listing, they said they were aware and had informed Amazon, and then offered to send me replacement towels for free.
When I received the replacement towels from Chakir Turkish, I was so impressed that I purchased more (as well as the hand towels and wash cloths). The bamboo/cotton blend is significantly softer than 100% cotton towels right away, but the difference magnifies significantly once you compare them after numerous washings (with the cotton becoming stiff and rough, and the blend feeling the same as it did when new). The thickness was similar to what I've seen in other luxury towels. The pile is dense, and is longer, and somewhat irregular in direction and length, which I prefer and think seems to make drying off more effective.
These are the first towels I've purchased that were not 100% cotton. My initial interest in a blend stemmed from two concerns : 1. durability, and 2. retained softness after washings. As stated before, these certainly seem to retain their softness better. Although I do not have enough information yet, I hope and expect them to be more durable as well. I highly recommend these towels .
I bought them after buying T-shirts that were cotton/bamboo mix, thinking they would be as soft. They are softer and very absorbent.
