About the Author
Swami Saradananda is an internationally renowned yoga and meditation teacher who has inspired thousands of people to practice. She has been teaching for almost forty years, and is the author of a number of books, including The Power of Breath,Chakra Meditation Relax and Unwind with Yoga, Yoga Mind and Body, The Essential Guide to Chakras and the upcoming Mudras for Modern Life. For 26 years, she worked with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and directed their facilities in New York, London, New Delhi and the Himalayas. After an extended period of personal practice in the Himalayas in 2001, she was author in residence at the Peacemaker Community in Western Massachusetts, and she then went on to direct yoga and meditation retreat Haus Yoga Vidya, just outside of Cologne, Germany. For the past few years, she has lived between London and New York but she spends several months each year teaching in Germany and several more in India. Swami Saradananda teaches yoga worldwide, leads pilgrimages to India and writes extensively. She is also a trustee of the Ganga Prem Hospice, a charity that is seeking to build a cancer hospice in Rishikesh, North India.

I have to say I have not achieved the extremes those individuals obtained, however, this book has improved my meditation practices and has helped balance out my general demeanor, self awareness, and life. After a half hour or hour devoted to meditation on various Chakras depending on how quickly I'm able to focus my mind, I attain a kind of high and balance. When things occur that could cause grief or anger, I am aware of the feeling but it is almost as if I am not having them but that I am observing them from outside and can make decisions on how to respond in a much more healthy rational manner.
This book is very detailed and does not hold anything back. It has mantras and references the underlying Hinduism beliefs underscoring most of the practices. It has beautiful artwork to assist with meditation. It has numerous yoga poses to help open your Chakras. All in all it is a great reference if you are trying to improve your meditation or get started for the first time.
I use the meditations in this book daily.
If you buy one book on Chakras - this should be it!
It gives you yoga poses for each chakra so you can learn how to open each one. The meditation is very easy to follow the hardest part is learning how to quite your own mind.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning all about chakras and how to bring balance and keep balance within yourself.
The author is obviously very experienced in meditation of the chakras & her writing reflects that.
If you are just learning about the chakras, this book will guide you down the right path. The book has beautiful illustrations to use during meditation & also shows yoga postures to help open each chakra. The book also has information on several minor chakras & several meditations I had never heard of & wasn't expecting!
Also, the author includes stones,flowers,scents of insence to burn to help open the Chakras as well.
I would definately recommend this book for a beginner in Chakra Meditation.
The book is just the right amount of reading material, however, the print is very small.
Personally, I love that it talks about each individual chakra then about the meditation itself. As well as when it talks about Yoga and other practices that can be done to improve your experiences. It is wonderful. A great read and book of learning.
If you are not knowledgeable about chakra meditation or even if you are, this book is great for you.
