Why this Book is A Memoir and More:
After writing The Chakra Diaries, I learned some people viewed me as a saint, some as a man-stealing tantric temptress. Human, like everyone else, I've had tragedies and betrayals, been bogged down by negative emotions, but I was able to get up and balance my chakras one by one until I had balanced my life.
I've learned to choose love and happiness and offer my story as a road map to anyone who wants to clear the path for healing on all levels. Whether you do yoga, meditate, or have raised your kundalini energy yet, see what awaits those who do!

This book resonated with me because I, too, am a healer who has overcome trauma through chakra work. Chakras are energy centers in the body that embody certain emotions or themes at work in our life.
If this sounds too outlandish, stop now. This book contains description of not only chakras but tantra, macrobiotic, past life regression, meditation, yoga, etc.
Anyone interested in these modalities and how they related to someone's life, read on.
2. A well edited story that is almost too wild to believe.
While reading I was very impressed with the pace of the story. The writing was interesting but easy to read. The pages flew by and I completed this book in a weekend.
Chakra Secrets does not hold back! It covers alcoholism, drug use, corrupt teachers, believe-it-or-not soul mates, and lifelong struggle.
It definitely puts the writer in a vulnerable place for the benefit of good for others. Admirable.
3. The end of the book teaches you a healing modality.
Finishing off the book is an appendix which explains what the Dynamind Technique is. While reading, it was the only loose end-- a modality I had never heard of.
The technique comes from her teacher in Hawaii and involves tapping on certain parts of the body to release tension anywhere.
I tried it and it worked for me. Couldn't hurt, right?
**4. Product advertisements should not be in the middle of a story.**
As I read good stories I get grumpy when interrupted.
Especially by advertising grumble grumble. This book advertised two products in the middle of the story, by using links in the footnotes on the same page.
Ads take away from the narrative and are tacky. This may seem like a small things, but it's unheard of. The standard for ebooks is that ads go at the end.
The end already includes information about other products. The ads in the middle irked me and have caused me to give a lower review.
Began this book at Midnight, read straight through until 4 a.m. and waited until the light of day to review.
All of the cliches fit: cliff hanger, couldn't put it down, fast-paced, brilliant writing...yes, all that with an important message: life is the same for everyone, we hurt, we grieve, we suffer, we have moments of joy and passion, and we are all subject to the same feelings.
We are born and re-born both physically, as in reincarnation, and spiritually, as in evolution of the soul...and there are very real modalities that we can employ to overcome our private agonies and move along our spiritual path to fuse with the light. That's the simplistic version.
Author Becca Chopra put herself out on a limb with this autobiographical novel in which she introduces powerful, spiritual healing modalities in a very earthy way. She covers yogis gone wild, drugs, passion, longing, as she takes you on a breathless journey from actress to respected yoga teacher, an amazing roller coaster ride that introduces yoga, rainbow tantra, tantric gurus, microbiotic diet, past life regression, acro-yoga, Ho'opono'pono and a very effective Huna Dynamind technique which can be practiced at home.
The storyline is complex yet unfolds simply and easily, propelling the reader right to the happy ending. And after all the twists and turns, one is certainly ready for that relaxing out breath and release.
Anyway, I'll share what I thought about just yesterday: When a young person grows through adulthood, they'll realize that not only will they make mistakes, at times they'll REALLY SCREW UP. Then as they grow and develop even more, they'll develop the tools and the grace that they need to forgive themselves for their mistakes and their screw-ups.
I know I've survived that journey and I'm still growing in my life-journey. I have to take my hat off to Becca. It takes a lot of humility and growth to be able to honestly admit some of the things that she did, without making excuses. She doesn't beg to be perceived as a victim; She simply shares her stories, knowing that the good bad and ugly were all part of the plan for her life and specificially, her spiritual growth.
It also takes a lot to understand that while none of us are perfect, we can all become spiritually free if we choose to be. Becca seems to encourage her Chakra/yoga students to claim spiritual freedom as a choice for their lives, and their overall health.
